Ryarber, why would you email Denon DJ regarding the release of Denon Receivers? 2 completely different divisions....

That was the email that I had emailed before... I never found an email that said "@denon.com"... so I was wondering if you had found one... They never responded to me when I emailed them about the release date.. maybe I will shoot them an email and see what response I get..

It's not "dj" it's "nj" (New Jersey).

okay.. well I looked somethings up.. the actual email address is contactus@denonnj.com.. I tried to go to denonnj.com not nothing resolved.. I did verify that the domain is in fact owned by "D&M Holdings US, Hostmaster" so thats good enough for me.. I am going to email them now

Sorry, my bad. it is denonnj.com. I'll edit the original post.

I also sent them back an email and told them they needed to put specs and pics on the website ASAP.

I am sure they will rush to do it now that you let them know! Seriously they will put them up when they are ready, all indications being that we will hear the full details any week now. I emailed someone from Denon 2 weeks ago and their response was simply "We have no information to share at this time"
I'm quite sure when they realize who I am, they'll get right on it.

Seriously, it sounds like they are finally letting down the embargo. Maybe we'll see some real information soon.
No one is responding to my email.. maybe they just dont like me or want my business....
I just emailed a guy at Denon and one of their major dealers we will see what comes back. I am really sick of waiting for info on this!
Could someone check with some of the major dealers, eg. J&R, and others to see when they will be taking preorders? I'd order today if I could.

Listenup.com has already told me as soon as they have the details around the reciever they will be offering pre-orders. I do not know about any of the other dealers. Does J&R usually offer pre-orders on stuff?
They (J&R) have been taking preorders on all these new Onkyo's (605 & 805).
I am thinking I will go with Listenup just because Denon seems to be one of their major vendors and they have been really nice about giveing me info along the way (even though it hasn't been much)
Answer back from Denon......No information yet to release
post #646 of 2596
Answer back from ListenUp.com....
"We are waiting on some final information from Denon and should have this available for preorder within the next week."

That is definately good news, I will keep everyone updated what I hear from them. The have promiced to send me an email as soon as this is up for pre-order.

lol... that sentence can be read two ways

1. We are waiting on some final information from Denon and should have this (information) available for preorder within the next week.
(aka... all the information [specs, price, etc] for the preorder should be here next week but there preorders will not start next week)

2. We are waiting on some final information from Denon and should have this (Denon 3808) available for preorder within the next week.
(aka... Preorders start next week)

I am assuming everyone is thinking that it's the second one?

Its definately the second one, I just copied down what he wrote in the email.
thats great news!! if it's true, then it will come out in perfect time for my sub!!
I got a similar email from Listenup.com here is the text of the email.

"Hi Robert,

We are expecting the 3808 in July sometime and should have it available for
preorder within the next week (we are waiting on some final info from Denon
on this and other upcoming models). I will let you know as soon as it is up
on our site."

Maybe that will clear things up a bit.

Comparing the Yamaha V861 with version HMDI 1.2 and the Onkyo $1600 875 is like comparing a 1970 Chevy Vega to a 2009 Corvette Z07. Are you freakin' kidding me?

I've been through this thread, and am not finding the power ratings, nor the weight of the Denon 3808. Am I missing something?

I'm also curious how the 3808 can compete with the 51lb. 130 watt Onkyo 805 priced under a grand if the Denon is retailing well over $1300. I had a Denon 3805 which blew an amp out of warranty for no good reason. I'm somewhat hesitant on going with a Denon, which is why I'm struggling to see how these two stack up.

The Denon has an additional HDMI input and it has Internet radio. I can't think of other advantages off the top of my head.

In general, Denon receivers are perceived as higher-end and as having better construction and sound quality than Onkyo receivers. I don't know how justified these perceptions are, particularly in regards to the new receivers. We'll have to wait and see when they all become available.

Is the first Onkyo supposed to be Denon?

Seems like Denon knows about their 'perceived' status as well seeing their current pricing structure..

I really wanted a denon 4308ci because of Denon's 'name' and reputation of good product but its price tag with only faroudja processing sent me packing.

Now, I am really interested in the Onkyos with the Reon Chips.. Since I already have an amp, the Integra DTC-9.8 PrePro @ $1600 with Reon Processing, BurrBrown DACs, THX2, Audyssey, etc has me really looking in that direction.

Doesn't it have 2 extra HDMI inputs? I thought the 3808 had 5 and the Onyko only had 3.

These are they same thoughts that are racing through my mind.
