Could something be wrong with me setup. I would think with the MFW taking most of the LFE it would produce more bass.

I have the 850s and had the same problem. The sub placement sucked but I couldn't move it so I resorted to using a SMS-1 to EQ the sub. I had this massive hump in the 28-35 range and I couldn't turn up the sub without the windows shaking. Start by getting some measurements.

Yes, it is just about room acoustics, speaker and listening area placement and how well you can blend the mains to the subwoofer.
It takes some times indeed.
I suggest looking into Acoustic Treatments for a BIG sound improvement.
I love GIK Acoustics for the support and prices. They helped my fine tune my Rocket system.
There are others of course so you can research it as well. :-)

Ok I added a UPA-2 to help power the 760's. I can push the volume almost all the way to max but it just gets to loud and the 760's sound great. Still need to try moving the sub around, but as we all know the MFW is a beast. I looked around for room treatments and saw a couple of good DIY projects.

Anyone else jumped on the X-omni deal at AV123? What are your thoughts?

Anyways, I got 6 of them for a great deal. Finally had the opportunity to test them out yesterday and I have to say, I am quite impress with these little suckers. Very well made and the sound that comes out of these are quite amazing, especially for the money I paid for. Clear, detail, and very smooth. I was going to use them as surrounds but they did quiet well as fronts as well. Very, very happy for the price I paid for them.

Very nice, I have a cherry pair that will serve up some surround sound duty. Yeah, I love how unique they are, can't wait till I can actually hear them!

Folks,
Im thinking about upgrading my current system of..

3 JBL LC2's LCR's
2 JBL L820 Rears
2 JBL l8400p Subs

to A Onix system with

3 Bigfoots for LCR's
2 Rss300's ( gotta find some used ones)
2 MFW15 subs

Would this be a noticeable upgrade across the board?
Any comments or suggestions..
Thanks
Bigfoot has been used across the front, but the cabinets are made with the expectation they will be placed horizontally, so the ends are curved. You really can't place them vertically as a result.

If you have the room for towers check out the specials on the 450's.

I posted my thoughts on the AV123 Forums. I am also very impressed with them, and I love the enveloping sound that it gives. This was my first experience with omni-directional speakers, and they work absolutely great!

I am only using these for music, though. I found that using them as mains for HT was a little strange, but for music, absolutely amazing!

Definately agreed on the music part. I tested them for 2 channel for music and enjoy them. I didn't get test them for front channel HT use. I think in the end, I'm going to use these as side speaker in my 7.1 system and moved my RS450 out and buy a b-stock bigfoot and set up another system. They are definately the best bargain I got as far as speaker goes.

I'm perfectly happy with my ELT525Ms on my desk, but I was wondering - if I added NoRez to the speaker, would that help at all? I don't have the money (or the skills!) to do a Ninja upgrade, but I'm curious what else I can do with these speakers.

Thanks!

I have decided to move away from my Klipsch and buy the Rocket package deal that AVS is running right now. The only issue I have is that I don't have the extra funds at Christmas to buy an external amp for the speakers (just bought two SVS PB-13 subs a couple of weeks ago). Will a Denon 3808 power these ok?

Congrats on your purchase! Depending on your room, the 3808 should definitely be able to power the Rockets. My room is pretty big, but I'm just using an Onkyo TX-SR876 (no room or funds for an amp!).

csnow,

I agree with Blackzarg. Your receiver is more than able to handle the Rockets. BTW, I hope you enjoy those subs. Can never go wrong with good subwoofers.

Most speakers benefit from separate amps. But the 3808 should give you decent power until the funds are available to upgrade to a separate amp. One thing to consider, is used. Check audiogon frequently for a three channel amp to power your front three channels (where most of the dynamics and power requirements are anyway) and let your 3808 handle all of the surround duty stuff.

I'm in the same boat. I purchased the Rocket 5.0 package and plan to power everything with an Onkyo SR707 100w.

No money for an amp right now so I hope everything works out for both of us!

So you decided to get the Onkyo 807 over the 707? Anyways, the Onkyo 807should be more than able to handle the Rockets.

I did. The 807 is rated at 135w so I thought that would give me a little more breathing room without needing to purchase an amp right away. Also the network connectivity and multi zone audio were good selling points for me as I think I can use both.

Hopefully everything will be set up within the next month, I still have to run speaker wire through the walls and set up the room. This is a retrofit and not new construction so I'm sure i'm going to have my road blocks along the way.

Nice choice on the 807. I've been looking at this once ever since it became available. You'll have to let us know how things work out once it's in place.

I purchased a pair of 850s and a Bigfoot a few weeks ago. Customer service was very good. It took a couple days for the rep to respond to my original email, but once contact was established, the experience was very good. This purchase was done completely via email.

The speakers are gorgeous and they sound fantastic! They're almost too nice... My wife and I are so nervous about something happening to them. My previous speakers were Sonys, so this was a BIG upgrade. I now know what the term "laid back" means. It's a very pleasing sound. I purchased these speakers based on reading message boards. I did not do any in-person auditions with any brand. Somebody posted that a great speaker should leave you always wanting to turn it up. This is true with my new Rockets. They get VERY loud, but seem to always be able to take more. The bass is fantastic too. I've realized that my Sonys were very bland. Everything sounded the same. The Rockets are more true to the music.

The first song I listened to was Dogs by Pink Floyd. I was expecting to be hit hard in the chest when the bass drum kicks in, but I wasn't. I then listened to I Can't Wait by Outkast. Damn! Great bass! I'm thinking that the Rockets were true to how Dogs was mixed in the 70's because they have LOTS of punch. I have a pair of KLH subwoofers. The bass out of the rockets is MUCH better. I've now set my subwoofer settings to LFE only. Another song I listened to when I first hooked up the rockets was New Frontier by Donald Fagen. I think this song has very exaggerated highs. What was extremely fatiguing with my Sonys now sounds great on my Rockets.

I purchased a pair of ELT525Ms on Black Friday. This purchase was all via the web. A very good experience once again. I haven't taken them out of the box yet.

Picked up my Rocket 5.0 set on Saturday. These things are heavy!! I managed to get them home and eventually up the stairs. I opened the box of the RS850 to find... another box! I opened this box to find the speaker well packaged in molded foam at both the top bottom and middle. The speaker itself is wrapped in a white cloth and I received the white gloves to handle them.

I'm almost scared to take them out of the box. I've decided to leave them boxed up until I am completely through drilling holes in the wall in this room, but i'm definitely getting anxious to get this stuff set up.

X-Statik 5.0 vs Rocket 5.0 , owners who have heard both, please tell me about your experience.

thanks

Anyone know the FR, efficiency, and impedance?

I have a pair serving up channels 6/7 in a 7.1 system. I am considering moving them to another room, and using ELT525Ms for channels 6/7, mainly because the ELT525M is easier to wall mount due to the threaded insert in the rear (Ref .05s have no insert).

Thanks...

I currently have 850's for mains and a bigfoot as my center. I am about to move and will have a bigger dedicated theater room with a AT screen so I will be able to mount my speakers behind the screen. I was thinking of replacing the bigfoot with another 850 to have matching LCR's. Any reason not to do this and would it be worth it to do it? Thanks in advance.

Actually, nothing wrong with that. If I had the space, I would do that too.

I have the Onix Rocket UFW-10 and really like it. I think it is second generation and has the XLR connections which I use and the Parametric Eq. A great sub and I hope to add a second as I comb the net keeping my eyes peeled.
