I have a question about the RS1000's. I bought them in 2005 and I use them mainly for HT, some 2 ch music. I have only been turning on the 8" woofers for 2ch music. What I am wondering, am missing part of the frequency from the sound by doing this? My SVS pb-12 ultra i have crossing at 80hz so without the 8" on, do am i missing 80-150 or at least part of it? Do the regular speakers in the 1000 play down to 80 anyway? I guess I assumed since the 750's are about the same without the 8" powered woofer that I could use them without it but I would guess the 1000's could could have different crossovers since it was designed with the 8" in mind. If someone in the know could enlighten me I would appreciate it.

No one still around that has any ideas about my question?

hello, i'm looking to sell my rosewood strata minis w/ ref 100 center and wondering what a good price would be. excellent condition 8-9/10, original boxing. unsure since they're not produced anymore and "shifty's problems" what is reasonable to expect for them. thanks in advance for any thoughts (and now that i think about it, if anyone is interested?).

Sorry in advance if this was already answered earlier in this thread. One of my Onix Reference 2 speakers is making a buzzing or vibrating sound when it is playing music. When I put my ear up against it it seems to be coming from the lower driver/woofer which is just below the tweeter and when I slightly press on the cone the buzzing seems to subside. I'm not sure if the move had anything to do with this problem. Does anyone know how to repair or replace the driver or could it be something else?
Try tightening the screws around the driver. They notoriously loosen.

If that's not it, do you feel/hear a grinding or scraping when you lightly push in on the driver cone?

when I push the cone I can hear a squeeking/scraping sound. When I do that with the other "working cone" I don't hear a thing. Does that mean the speaker is blown and needs replacement?

Pretty much. It's a voice coil problem. There was a previous AV321 forum member that had a source for parts and was handling it for those that had issues. Not sure if he's still doing that or not, but PM me and I'll give you his name and where you might be able to contact him.

Any one interested in a new, unused fantabuloso R-DES? I found one in my garage while cleaning!

I also have some RS-250's with cosmetic damage that might be of interest to someone. I even have two hotrodded 12" subs I would sell if anyone wants them.

if the R-DES doesn't hum I might be interested. I had one for a short while and it was great, but it hummed all the time so I returned it.

It's new in the box so I have no idea... $25 + shipping and it's yours!

Guys,

Watch this thread after the Holidays for a central location to order your Refs, Rockets drivers.

I will assign one of our dealers to handle this task.

The drivers will come from SAC, the original factory of these speakers.

Thanks,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

I have the same exact problem with one of my speakers.

Tightening them does not work.

Seeing if there is any interest. I have a AV123 Onix speaker system consisting of,
Reference 3's mains, Ref 100 center channel and 2x Ref 1's surround speakers. I'm updating again and would like to find a good home for these speakers. All are in excellent condition.
Willing to sale together or individually. PM for pics and serious offers. Thanks!

I'm looking for a pair of rss300's and a pair of 250's(or larger) in rosewood to complete my 9.1 setup. Does anybody have some sitting around and as a second question has anyone paired another brand for sides and rears With rockets with good success? If so what did you use?

I took a hit from a nearby lightning strike. It took out my TV, Receiver, Bluray player, AND the amplifiers on my Mini Strata speakers! The fuses seem fine, the I/O button lights up, but I get NO base. I have connected a backup receiver to the line input an I get nothing. The same hookup to a standalone sub produces base, so I know my backup receiver is working properly. Any idea if this is repairable? I assume parts are hard to come by. Anything simple I can check myself. I really love (loved) these speakers.

Thanks

Anyone have an idea of the ballpark cost to repair a blown voice coil on the Onix Reference .5 speakers? I just had the voice coil on one speaker go out and am debating whether to enlist sandbaggers help (could get parts earlier in thread), take them to a good repair shop in NYC or scrap them for new speakers. Would probably pay to fix them if under $200 but if more I might as well get a new pair of another brand.

Thanks in advance.

You see my post on 1/30/12? I have been trying to get a response from Sandbagger since then and gave up after 2 months and am working with skiingninja. It's neither one's fault, I finally got a response from skiingninja that he still cannot get a response from the manufacturer. I cannot even get a rough idea as to how much the replacement parts are going to be; I don't know if it's between $10 or $10,000000. I know at least skiingninja is working on it but I'm not 6 months into waiting and still have not had any success. Hope that is an indication that it's a long journey to get your question unanswered. I love the speakers but since it's been like this since AV123 shut their doors I may start a thread asking which speakers are a good replacement for these.
Thanks. I may take them to a good speaker place here in NYC and see what they can do as have no desire to wait six months. Sounds like I will be replacing them if repair isn't an option.
Did you send me an email? The only thing I see via email has been about a Ref1 driver and I replied to that.

I never ordered any Ref drivers and do not have any. I do still have a few RS850/1000 woofers and RSC200(bigfood) woofers along with tweeters.
I know the ninja was trying to get another order in for a few drivers I didnt or was told the original factory didnt have any more, but I dont know where that stands.
You might also want to send Hugh at Angle City Audio a email as he was the importer for Onix after AV123 imploded.

Hi Sandbagger,

I did email you last on December 15th through here, since I don't have your personal email and never heard from you so I decided to go with ninja since he is also the one that sold me the speakers when he worked for AV123. Thanks for the suggestion about Angle City. I will send him an email. I didn't want to involve too many people. I know ninja as of a couple of weeks ago was working on it. My biggest frustration is not being able to get even an idea of price.

Does anyone have their instruction manual for their Onix ERT super tweeters? I got mine out, but dont have my instructions. And I don't remember the + or _ termenals, cross-over points, or knob settings to match my rocket 760's.

Thanks,
Never mind. I found a detailed review, as well as a site that had about two dozen AV123 product manuals and found what I was looking for.

Hi,

I have a quick question about my RS150s. I am looking to move them into my theater to use as height speakers as I would like to move to an 11.2 setup. Is there any problem with laying this speakers on their side to help keep them as high as possible? I know they may be a bit unstable but I can "prop" them up with something as they will be located behind the screen and won't be visible.

Also, while I am posting, I am looking to add a pair of Rockets to complete my 11 channel setup. I would prefer a floor standing set (rosewood preferred but not required) to use a my L/R speakers. So, if anyone has a pair they would like to sell, I am interested. Just drop me a PM.

Thanks,
T.Wells
