Receivers with Audyssey MultEQ

What has been your experience with such a receiver? Did the MultEQ feature improve the sound quality noticeably in your room? Or even made it worse?

I need to re-address it at some point. But in some ways it helped. In some ways it hurt. I am not currently using the Audessey EQ though. I do think many rooms are going to be rough on the unit though, or I should say I think my room is to tough on the unit anyways.

Hi,

I'm using the same AVR as John, and my results have been quite impressive. I almost exclusively use Audyssey in my admittedly simple room (relatively small and rectangular). Its results are much more immersive than any effort I've made to adjust by ear.

One thing to keep in mind is that Audyssey is designed to give you a fairly flat response curve. It will tame brightness that can be a problem in home theaters, but it will NOT accentuate the sub. Some people like a big, booming bass sound coming from the sub, and those people will need to adjust the Audyssey settings after the system does its job.

I do find that the system is very even sounding, the right amount of treble/mid/bass mix for my liking in most circumstances. But I do enjoy pumping up the sub a bit on occasion depending on what I'm watching or listening to (The "Love" DVD-A sounds great with pumped-up bass volume IMHO).

Which AVR are you using? Denon? Marantz? Something else?

Can we revisit this from some users who would like to share their experience.More details the better.

Can you tailor the multi EQ as far as bass, and how do you like the feature that equalizes the sound the the volume level.

KG

Seems it would be smart to use a receiver as a processor these days.

Aren't there, already, other threads that deal with Audyssey and individual experiences?

Not in Audyssey but you can always turn it up to suit your taste.
