Help...trying to view replayTV HD in PC

Thread Starter
I run Windows XP on my PC.
I have a ReplayTV 5508 that is stuck on the "Please Wait" screen. ("not the Welcome please wait").

I'ved tried the problematic HD on my 2nd 5508, and it does the same thing...so I figured it must be the hardrive or the system software not allowing me to boot up.

I connected the problematic HD to my PC, and under the system/device manager/Hard Drives...it's listed there. But when I go to "My Computer", it's not listed there.

So I did the same thing with the good HD from the working 5508, and it too is listed on the device manager, but not in "My Computer" on my PC.

Any ideas? Please help.

Thanks.

Windoze doesn't recognize the file system that the Replay uses. It will recognize the hard drive, but you can not directly read files from it without 3rd party software like RTVpatch or ReplayTVTools (or whatever their names are).

Does the good hard drive work in the 5508? If so, I would use a low-level format tool from the drive manufacture and check the bad drives there, then repatch them.

If it is a new hard drive for your replay, it could be a dreaded incompatible newer fangled hard drive that simply won't work in old replays no matter what you try

is the network cable plugged in? sometimes when they're booting for the first time, or at least the replay thinks so because you just lost everything, it won't boot with the network cable in.

also check your power supply connections and screws. Do the orange wires in the power cable ends look burnt? is so clean the posts.

whenever my 5508 gets quirky I pull the power ribbon and clean all the posts
