I am having a really weird problem with the audio on my new SR8001.
It will not reliably convert 2 channel stereo from my Dish Network VIP211 satellite receiver to multi-channel (6) sound.
This bum processing will happen on all stereo channels from the Dish receiver: news channels, talk shows, etc. Everything except 5.1 channels, obviously. I really miss the synthesized multi-channel sound on the Dish/Sirius music channels. The only surround mode that doesn't squeal the rear surrounds after a while is the MONO mode
of the CS-II surround mode.
It will wonderfully convert 2 channel sound from my Marantz CD Player and my Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD Player to multi-channel sound.
My old SR8000 processed stereo into multi-channel wonderfully from the same VIP211 reciever I now have, and with a previous Dish 6000 receiver.
With the new SR8001, when the surround mode is MCH-ST, or CS-II, the 2 rear surround speakers seem to work properly for 5 to 30 minutes. Then the surround speakers start squealing and do not emit any music information.
That's the weirdest part. It works for a while, then the rear surrounds starts squealing.
Same results with either optical out, or HDMI out, from the Dish receiver. I tried 2 different Toslink Optical cables. I tried it on the DVD Channel as opposed to the DSS Channel of the Marantz. Same results.
I first tried a replacement Dish VIP211 receiver that my dealer had. Same results. No workie.
I called Marantz tech support and we did a processor re-set. No effect. They said it was a bum receiver.
So I got a brand new replacement SR8001 from my local dealer where I bought the original.
Same results again. The rear surrounds work for a little while then start squealing.
I was on the phone with Marantz Tech Support for 45 minutes speaking with 3 of them. They said bum satellite receiver.
Just just yesterday I received a new VIP211 receiver from Dish. This makes the 3rd one that I have tried.
Again, my old Marantz SR8000 did the Multi-Channel stereo, 2 channels converted to 5.1 channels, wonderfully. With the same Dish VIP211 receiver.
Doe anyone have a SR7001 or an SR8001 hooked up to a Dish VIP211 satellite receiver? If so, could you please report your results?
