i wonder what is the best CRT-HDTV to buy..... i think these 2 are probably the better set......
i currently bought the 3082 model 1 month ago and i got lots of geometry problems with it so i exchanged it yesterday and this new one seems much better but still... the geometry isn't as good as it could be.... some minor bowing is still there.
also, is it normal that you can see huge space between pixels near each border of the tv (app. 2inch each side).... with that kind of stuff, i'm wondering if this tv CAN REALLY DISPLAY HD SIGNAL? not sure since i don't have a hd dvd player yet.
i heard that the sony xbr960 is out of production and really hard to find, that's why i shall compare it to the 970 version instead (even if it's inferior)...
should i exchange my sammy for the sony set? i think it's goddamn huge & heavy but i want the best picture possible..... for such amounth of money spent.
thanks for your response.

PQwise I think it is pretty much a draw. The Samsung is a little brighter but has picture enhancement software that can't be turned off in the user menu. This makes a few things look a little unnatural as some things will be sharper than they should be, etc. The Sony's PQ is just as good and gives you the ability to turn off the picture enhancement if you want. The only drawback to the Sammy is that many of these SlimFits have pretty bad geometry problems. Sure, all CRTs have some geometry isses but these SlimFits tend to have it above and beyond the norm. In the end I think the Sony is the better TV. Its screen is 4 inches bigger, the PQ is great and gives you options for disabling artificial enhancement, and the geometry is much better than the SlimFits, although not perfect.
