The Departed $22.99 at Best Buy

Thread Starter
Well I was getting ready to print out the Target.com product listing for The Departed to have Best Buy price match their price of $27.95. I decided to check out BestBuy.com to see what the price was there and to my surprise it was listed at $22.99!! This is super cheap for a combo title at BB. Heck its even cheaper than Amazon.com.

Went ahead and ordered one for instore pickup just to make sure I get that price incase it turns out to be a mistake. Hopefully with a price like this more people without a HD-DVD player will pick up the combo and help get those sales up.

edit: Here is the link to the product page The Departed $22.99

Thanks buddy, I appreciate this. $22.99 is a little better than the $27.99 I was gonna pay.
I just placed and paid for my order as well. I pick it up tomorrow in store.

I was going to do the same thing that you were. You saved me $5, now my children can both watch a good movie and eat as well.

this is great i wonder if all combos are gonna start to be released at this cheap now? maybe someone is getting the point. who would buy the blu ray version if they are neutral format when the hd dvd one is 7 bucks cheaper?
Just ordered mine as well.. Hopefully this will be a common occurence with new releases like SD-DVDs.

Don't know if this is a coincidence but a guy Amir (who I was told in an HD DVD Insider) started this Poll about Combo pricing. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=795800

I am thinking that this is the result of it?

Wow, I just paid $28 with my 10% off at Wal-Mart. Should I take it back and make them price-match it? (I work night shift so going there right now is no trouble for me.)

Yes, definately! I would print out that page first though.

I'm printing right now.

I don't think BB's pricing is a direct result of our little poll, but I think the overall pricing may have been affected somewhat by all of our combined input on combos. The MSRP for these is usually $39.99, but this one's is only $34.99.

Just placed my order! Great price! Thanks for the post. Man I love AVS Forums!

Fantastic! To think I almost ordered it from Amazon. Can't wait to pick this one up!

If you purchase the HD-DVD version, go vote on this poll.

I thinik there is a good chance the MSRP is $39.99, given that Amazon and dvdempire both list it that way and the warnerbros site has it as $5 more expensive than the BD. Looks like a great deal here. I wasn't planning on buying this one now (the BD will arrive from netflix tomorrow), but at that price I'll probably pick up the HD DVD version if I'm near Best Buy on Tuesday and they have it in stock for that.

I just skimmed through the movie and man does it have a great picture. The audio's great, too, but that was expected.

hmm...let's see...

combo disc--check
less than $25--check
available for instore pickup in my nearest BB--check
$100 BB gift card leftover from Christmas--check

someone pinch me!

wow.

if all combos are priced at 22.99, and you get the sd and hd side, which allows you to play movies in the car, on most laptops, or at a friend's house, then why why why even consider paying more for the blu-ray version.

wow.

if they seriously are going to start reducing prices on combos, then I don't care if 200 upcoming releases are combos there will be a significant advantage in my opinion.

Thanks RodChester, just ordered it for pick up today, I may have both formats but HD DVD is my first love and still glad to show it.

Great deal on a HD-DVD combo. At this price its less than the wine of the week. Beat that, boy.
thanks to the OP.

I just ordered it for instore pickup.

Under $25 out the door!
Wow, what a great flick. It's an absolute steal at this price.

I think that is wishful thinking. This could easily be a price mistake. Invinceable on BD was priced for $15.99 on BB's website...same price as SD version. They honored the price. My guess is the 2-disc SE is $22.99 and someone made a mistake on their website....several weeks ago this was priced at 22.99 and they changed it back to 34.99....now it seems to have made a another switch to 22.99 again. Mistake or not, they should honor the price.

LOL

Well, this is great news, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves, it's only one title thus far.. However, if this starts a new trend going forward, the econimics/utility would make this a very appealing.proposistion.

Thanks for the head up. Order it online, will do the in-store pickup in 5 hours. Can't wait.
Thanks!

Someone mentioned Target at $23. So, I am going there instead of BB for the BD copy.

Yes, it is slightly cheaper than the Wine of the Week, but this flick looks to be a better value.

Pretty good comparison. Each one (movie and bottle of wine) takes 2 hours to consume. Maybe, I'll live large and split a bottle with my wife while watching the departed!

Thanks, I just ordered it for in store pickup.

Got one for in store pick up as well... Thanks a lot....

Thank you for the link. I just ordered this as well.

I now officially own two HD-DVD's! King Kong and The Departed. I've always been primarily a renter but I can't resist the buy with this one; Jack, Matt, Marky Mark, and the Boston setting...
