I've been sold on Klipsch reference series and their horn tweeters for a while now. And someone in a previous thread brought up HSU Speakers and I've looked at there web page and they appeal to me for multiple reasons.
Lets say I'm looking to spend under 2k for my complete speaker solution, Currently I'm running a 7.2 setup, in a 15x14x8 room (Square and 8 foot ceilings) so its not very big, but if move I want the system to last. MY current system is a complete miss match of speakers, from polk, cerwin vega, and JBL. Went with the cheapest setup I could to get started.
I like the idea of book shelf speakers (HSU) because it would allow me to make my screen bigger (Low cielings makings things a bit difficult).
Anyway I was planning on buying Klipsch from e-bay because I can get a bump up in the series vs my local theater place for the same price roughly (rf 62, instead of rf 52).
RF-62 Tower - $720
RC-52 surrounds - $540
RC-62 center - $370
SVS 12 - $600 (+S&H?)
So that puts me up around $2300 for a 5.1 solution. A bit over budget. and 5.1, and larger in size.
Now HSU has a package deal that looks nice. Realy nice, its a 7.2 a perfect match for my existing setup (previously I had inwall speaker bookshelf, so they're a good match). Plus the front channels are smaller form factor, so I wouldnt have issues with my screen size.
Ultimate 1
1999.00
1 VTF-3 HO Subwoofer
1 MBM-12 Mid-bass Module
6 HB-1 Horn Bookshelf Monitors
1 HC-1 Horn Center Channel
Right on with size, budget, and 7.2. Almost seems like its too good to be true? Only problem is I cant demo a HSU system, I have no idea how it sounds. I'm running a Denon AVR3806 reciever which I have no plans on upgrading.
Any help would be great, esp from the people that have heard HSU First hand.
Thanks!
