Do-able board vs. Painted for HDTV/DLP projection

Hello!

I have a Optoma HD70 projector, mainly for HDTV and some HD movie and upconverted movies. I'm currently using Blackout screen fabric (I had a nice gray wolf screen , but the aspect ratio wasnt 16:9 so it had to go :/)

I decided that I will either be painting a new screen w/frame or doing the do-able board, because the images theyve been displaying are amazing.

I'm starting this thread for a comparison between the two. I've read through the do-able board thread and various painting threads and I havent seen many comparisons between the two in quality. I have seen that do-able looks much easier to complete.

These are the options I've been thinking of doing.

1) Doable board with velvet frame

2) Screen Goo with velvet frame

3) Behr Silver Screen mix with velvet screen.


What are you thoughts.

BTW - If I go with paint, I would be rolling it on. Im looking for more POP to the color and good contrast.

Thanks for the reponse. I will def. use a mix paint , I just have to pick the right one now :/ Thats the hard part so many on here. One question about doable board. Since its white, am I correct in saying that its not a good choice for a DLP projector? I remember reading somewhere that a grey screen is needed for DLP to show its performance.

Also, I've seen you post in quite a few threads, From your experience, what are the mixtures I should be looking into. MM
