Sony's really jumping the gun with this 'won the war' FUD. BTW: Anyone see the interview with Sony CEO in the new EGM magazine? Number one reason why I hate Sony--the company's policy is to LIE. They lie about launch success, availability of PS3's in-store, promised vs delivered graphics, loss of rumble support, popularity of launch titles, even the PS Network vs Xbox Live! And this isn't some PR spin, it's the CEO out and out LYING about the PS.

shaddap, vote, and watch g4tv for the results!

No thanks.

I'd rather watch Simpson's reruns than that hype.
Staring at g4tv hours on end for up-to-date useless statistics on something no one really cares about? I don't think it gets any better!
sorry, too busy watching paint dry
Olivia Munn gets my vote.
I clicked over to it when the Simpson's went to commercial.

It was awful. Neither the guests nor the host seem to have any information.

The host even claimed the PS3 couldn't play DVD's.

I could have been watching a nice Geico commercial instead

no you guys are too busy posting on the FORUM about the poll. watching the show is just insane and totally different.

For the pile of beans it's worth, 68% say that Blu Ray has not won the format war.
Like every thing on G4 it was all fluff and no real content. Man I miss techtv. They had pepole that went to collage. Not just a buch of average video gammers who have never opened a PC....

Here are highlights (or should I say lowlights?) from the EGM interview boden11 mentioned above.

On the negativity surrounding the launch:

Quote:

"The problem we have... it's society in general. We're been the undisputed winner for over a decade now, and people keep waiting for us to slip up, and we haven't, so people try to create stories that aren't there"

On PS3's sitting on the shelf (early Jan):

Quote:

"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1,200 bucks for it."

On the price:

Quote:

"If you want the ultimate gaming experience and you see value in all those other experiences, all of a sudden 599 bucks doesn't sound like a whole lot of money"

On the lack of HD cable with the system:

Quote:

"The statistics I've read say that 38 percent of the TVs that were sold this year were high-def TVs. To me that says 62 percent were not high-def"

On the lack of vibration in the PS3 controller:

Quote:

"...it personally wasn't all that compelling to me. We feel that vibration is not part of our future"

On the Wii:

Quote:

"I think Nintendo is trying to find their place in the market"

On attracting new consumers:

Quote:

"I don't know if [the Wii] ultimately has the horses to do that"

On the ill-fated UMD movie:

Quote:

"The mistake we made in UMD as a movie format was assuming the movie studios understood our consumers and their tastes... that they knew what they were doing"

On his vision:

Quote:

"To ultimately be successful, you have to believe that every consumer matters"

It really does make me sick the lies they are telling. What are they afraid of?

I have both formats but I don't like buying Blu Ray titles for the above reason.

dad1153, those quotes are comedy gold. Thanks for sharing them.

BTW:

Here's some OTHER lies of note from the EGM interview with Sony CEO:

"I feel it looks identical and actually personally commented that it delivers on the promise of what we showed two years earlier."

In response to EGM pointing out that: "Motorstorm looks great, but it doesn't really look anything like the original video that you showed...What is the purpose of misleading the public like that? Aren't you setting consumers up for disappointment later?"
--
On Xbox Live functionality vs PS Network

EGM: You told everyone "We offer everything that Xbox Live does...there are several features that you don't offer right now...cross-game messaging, back-ground downloading, leaderboards, chat across all games..."

"...Now if it's important for you to pay to get those features, then that's, I guess, a compelling argument for why you've signed up for the Xbox Live Service. But I still think we have a very robust online experience for PS3 and we'll continue to add features."

EGM continues to prod SCEA CEO and he still can't give a straight answer on when/what to expect from PSN and if it'll EVER be comparable to Xbox Live.
--
Additional lies

That any PS3s on a store shelf must have just gotten there as they're selling out fast (not). He even goes so far to offer the interviewer $1,200 for PS3s on store shelves. He also lies about why rumble control support was dropped (lawsuit), He glosses over giving up dual HDMI 1080p output (this was touted at CES), he lies about the success of the launch, the lack of ANYTHING compelling available at launch, he insinuates the negative press was caused by naiviety--he states that Time magazine called the PS3 a disaster because the reporter knew nothing about game consoles, he lies about the reason they didn't include HDMI/HD cabling in with the PS3, he lies about the popularity of the Wii, and he lies about Sony's interests--'you have to believe that every consumer matters'.

THAT'S a laugh...I have been seeing PS3s sitting on the shelf at my local Wal-Mart for at least 3-4 weeks...the 60GB ones NOT the 20s...
yah i seen some at the local mall also doesnt mean their selling terrible...

they are just way to expensive.... i know it has blu ray player but most people could careless. it is a value if you actually plan on using the sacd, blu ray playback though but if not then its just way way over priced gamin machine with very little good games

I couldn't agree more. This is exactly what I mean when I'm talking about corporate irresponsibility and how Sony doesn't care about the consumer. I hate how they try to rationalize EVERY little thing they do and the worst part is they get away with it. Not that companies like Microsoft are any different but at least the 360 is a solid next-gen console with great games, a great controller, and possibly the greatest platform for network gaming, ever. Sony hasn't done sh*t, yet they're still talking the talk.

So Bill Hunt and Tom Arnold were featured on last nights show? Anybody know what they had to say?

BTW, 71% voted that BD has not won yet.

Sorta goes against the tone around here lately though...seems like a lot of urgency in the posts, and ironically from the Blu side, not HD (and oddly enough, here in the HD forum)...seems like they're shouting the loudest for the war to be won\\over NOW...can't figure out why they don't wan't it to linger on though? Certainly don't want it over now becuase they need more content, they already have that in spades, right, tis why they're winning at the moment? Must be another reason they don't want this to go long...if you've got the superior product, the better price, more content and support, then whats all the rush about, its in the bag?!
