Affordable large perforated screen

Need some advice.

I'd like a screen that's:
  • pulldown
  • acoustically transparent
  • 10' width / 12.5' diagonal (4:3)
  • under $1000

This is for a pretty cheap LCD projector. Is this possible? If it's not, the only thing that's not flexible is the size.

DIY is an option. I can give up on the pulldown. I can sacrifice some audio performance. There are just so many options I don't know where to start - what would you do?

Its gonna cost more than that. I , too, am looking for one for my DILA and the cheapest Ive come across is from Da Lite at about $1500 for a cinema contour/fixed frame and 119" diagonal. Of course, about a third of what Stewart and Screen Research cost. If you can get away from perferated, theres a lot of good choices. Im replacing a Draper Onyx Hi Def Gray screen(92"). Da Lite has some good bargains on the internet from a number of on line dealers. Just punch in "google" for Da lite perf screens and start checking whats available. Good luck!

snip....

what would you do?

I'd give up the acoustically tranparant requirement, put the center channel under the screen and angle it up a bit towards the seating area.

And pocket the savings.

Anyone familiar with my posting history may be shocked at what I type next - but for that price range I'd recommend SMX.

Simple- has SMX been successfully used for pulldown applications? Do you know of any posted tutorials? Thanks!

I know they have a manual pull down and are working on an electric pulldown. If you contact SandManX he'll tell you everything you want to know.

Zambaretzu- just received a reply from "Accuscreens." Their pulldown and electric screens aren't available in AT material, but their fixed screens are if you want to go that route.
