Can anyone who has two full Moxi boxes confirm this?

Sorry my mistake:

$5 month for a second SD box
$10 month for a second HD box
$20 month for a second HD DVR

A couple more questions:
Does Charter offer any non-Moxi boxes (read cheaper than $20/month) that have anything other than the horrid "TV Guide" interface that the basic DCT 700 uses?

Also, does Charter still offer a SD-DVR, and if so, how much is that a month, and what interface does that use?

Umatter2Charter, can you please dig up some information for us on this? I know that both Comcast and Time Warner have implemented this in several of their markets, and they lost a significant amount of customers because of it. I imagine this concerns a lot of people that frequent this particular forum.

Thanks.

I'd like to give my in-laws a Charter DVR as a Christmas present. Does Charter have a mechanism to make that happen ? A gift card or certificate perhaps?

Thanks,

Steve

Not that I could find. I'd make a nice homemade card with a "DVR IOU" and then call and make the appointment for them .... if you want a Moxi.

I suppose you could go to a Charter center with their acct info and get a non-Moxi and deliver it to them yourself on XMas ... but generally the account holder needs to do that.

Er, also what do you mean "give them a DVR." The DVR's don't cost anything, except the monthly service charge ... so I assume you mean you're going to pay for the service? Better than "here's a free box, have fun with your higher bill!" hehe.

Yeah .. I want to pick up the tab on the services. Fixed income and all that.

I also poked around on the site and couldn't find anything mentioned either that's why I posted here. Perhaps a Charter employee lurking might pick up on the question.

The above was the latest information on our SDV launch here in STL. Did you guys miss that post?

Unfortunately we do not. Additional equipment can only be ordered by an authorized user on the account.

Umatter2Charter:

Any thoughts on our suddenly broken Moxi Mates after the Nov 30th software update? The tech that visited pretty much dismissed the problem, saying that "Charter doesn't really support the Moxi Mates anymore," and that there's effectively no replacement...just have to pony up for a 2nd full DVR.

That's pretty disappointing, especially considering Charter is still happily charging us $3/mo for the still non-functional Mate. I've been holding out hope that another subsequent update would fix it, but we checked again last night and while the video and Moxi menus still work, it's still completely without sound.

Please send a PM with the phone number on your account and we can discuss options for you. You're the first person that I've heard had trouble after the update.

I didn't miss the post. It was intended to be good natured gigging. A recent e-mail I got from a query to SteveGM indicated that new HD channels and, I assume, SDV would be rolled out in the first quarter of 2010. Are you comfortable with that projection?

Thanks.

We continue to study and evaluate the bandwidth use and our network, and are gathering requirements to develop a resource so that customers can monitor and control their bandwidth resources. We have no current plans beyond developing the tool.

A non-dvr HD box is $5 monthly. We no longer offer SD-DVR equipment.

So I'm on my sec 3013 box in a month. Same problem with both, remote does not work on Moxi box, it controls the volume and power on TV after being programed but not the Moxi box. I've tried two remotes and two boxes.

Talk to a Charter tech last night on the phone who says that the 3012 boxes have over heating problems and the lose of control with the remote is a common problem. He went on to say that they are discounting the Moxi in CA and replacing it with the Moto box w/DVR.

Can someone verify this, are my problems common, or did I just get two bad boxes? I really like the look of the Moxi over the Moto, but if it doesn't work then whats the use. I'm over in Alton so I would guess we get the end supply of these when they come in the area.

Thanks

I think that's a load of BS. I've had my 3012 for over a year now and had zero problems. Nobody on the 3012 thread has mentioned anything about overheating problems.

There is some discussion, however, about the glossy front of the 3012 being a bit problematic with the remote, so if yours is sitting behind a glass door or something it might make that worse. Someone even put tissue paper over the front of his and said it speeded up the remote response. I have not tried that myself.
Ya I saw the tissue paper suggestion, seems a bit tacky, but this box is worthless without the remote.

Yeah I'd agree its better than nothing, or better than another news/weather/home shopping channel in HD as well..

769 is currently MLB Network. Is it moving?

They better be keeping MLB Network HD. If they drop it, I'm just about ready to switch to something else.

Either the channel listed in the notice for UniversalHD was incorrect, or they will remap some channels (which isn't uncommon) so don't freak out

They dropped NFL network and VersusHD so MLB could be going away.
