To me this is a huge competitive advantage over other services. I'm too much of a tinkerer/control-freak to pay for a DVR, especially when I can use an open-source one for the channels I get.

Sounds like a beast!

Man... I have an HDHomeRun now and like the way it works, so I was looking at the HDHR Prime, but now the Ceton card is the same price with an extra tuner. I've got the slot, but right not it's not supported as well in MythTV. Tough decision.

Me, too (well, S3/sleep because my motherboard won't RTC wake when off). My remote frontend uses wake-on-lan to bring the master up. The only thing that would be an issue with powering-off is if I wanted MythWeb available all the time, but so far I've not enabled it outside my network just so I don't have to deal with security. That and I haven't screwed with the remote waking it up so I have to walk 5 feet and push the button if it's not on, but I'd feel pretty lazy if I left it on all the time just for that.

Thank you,

I've been meaning to report back on how this went. To my pleasant surprise it couldn't have gone smoother! I picked up the tuning adapter and cable card from local Charter office, went home and hooked it up. At first it didn't work right, to be expected since I hadn't called Charter and told them to activate it yet. I went into the the kitchen, called Charter, on a Sunday afternoon no less, got a person within a minute or so, told her what I needed, she typed it in and said it should be workig now. I hung up the phone walked from the kitchen to the family room and wow! it was all working!

I do have a question though Umatter2Charter. I still need to return the Moxi DVR I was renting from Charter as I don't need it any longer. Can I just show up with it unannounced at my local Charter office and if so besides taking it from me can they alter the services I subscribe too right then and there at the Charter office too? Now that I'm using my own Tivo I can obviously return the Moxi and save $15/month on "DVR Equipment Upgrade & Service Fee" but additionally I'm thinking I can have them remove "Interactive Services; On-Screen Guide & Pay-Per-View and Digital Receiver" since I won't be needing or using any of that with my own Tivo. The only Digital Receiver I have of Charter's is the Moxi I need to return.

Thanks,
Tom

Good afternoon,

I am very glad to hear that everything went well with your installation. You certainly can return the MOXI to a local office. Make sure you get a receipt and keep it. They will also remove the codes that go along with the DVR service.

I hope you enjoy the new services and please let us know if you ever need any help.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Greetings,

Thanks, I have forwarded your inquiry to our marketing director. As soon as I hear back from them I will let you know if we have any plans to make those additions.

George

Edit : History Channel International was renamed to H2 in mid-November 2009. In St. Louis Metro it is available on 111 Digital View Plus. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the Quick info;

Sadly my channel says "NOT AUTHORIZED"

BUMMER

Maybe you guys need to consider adding common channel like H2, NFL network, DIY, HD Net & other to the $$$ level we are currently paying..
These channel are available @ Dish @ that price level....

Who makes these so called TIER level channel decisions ?

Good morning,

We definitely appreciate your feedback. Channel tier placements are negotiated between that partiuclar network's ownership and Charter. We strive to give the customer the most value regardless of which tiers that they subscribe to. If you are interested and adding this tier of channels to your services please send a pm and we can get you set up.

Have a great day,

George

I returned my charter dvr and they kept billing for it for about 4 months. I had to drive up to charter tell them to stop billing for a dvr i dont have any more. Im glad i kept the receipt since i think they had no record of it being returned.
I dont know ofter this happens.

they did give me hbo and showtime free for a year and refunded my money.

also with tivo you should not have to pay 3.00 a month for the guied info since tivo has there own guied.

how do the self install kits work? I might get one soon when i get my ceton cable card adaptor for windows media center.

There is no cable card limit. If a customer has a lot of devices, then sometimes we may need an amplifier to boost signals but otherwise I do not see any issues.

UM2C,

Can you guys give us an update as to where you are with the TIVO releases? Is April still the plan?

Thanks.

Good Afternoon,

Unfortunately we had to push back the TiVo launch More info here: http://www.cedmagazine.com/news/2012...ck-tivo-launch

We don't have any exact launch dates but are working hard to get them out as soon as possible, however, we want to ensure that when we launch that they work well in your home

Thanks,

Dylan

According to the words on this page a splitter should be used, but it looks like from the pictures both types of tuning adapters have an RF out and so shouldn't need a split. Can anyone comment on which of these are more prevalent in STL and whether the cable card device can use a connection passed-through the TA?

I have the Motorola TA and I do not have a splitter installed. The cable comes into the RF IN on the TA than from the RF OUT of the TA to the Cable connection on the TiVo. I also still have the USB connection. This was how Charter installed it when they started doing the TA rollout awhile back.

I'm not sure why a splitter would be needed or wanted.

Cool - that's what I figured. Probably some old info on there.

Any news on adding the new Disney Jr. Channel to your HD lineup?

Or Nick Jr.??
Good evening,

Thanks for your interest in both of those channels. Thank you for taking time to let us know that you would like to see more Disney Junior programming. We’re pleased that you currently enjoy watching Disney Junior on Disney Channel from Charter, and value the family-orientated entertainment it provides.

Charter wants customers like you and your family to always have access to the shows and movies you want, at an affordable price. It’s our intent to work closely with Disney on a reasonable agreement to provide Disney Junior, The Channel to our customers.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, the consumer, in such a timely fashion. Your cable service is important to me, as is the incredible entertainment you provide. My family wants you to have access to our money every month, and as such we are always in talks about how to best maximize our entertainment budget. It is our hope that Charter Communications will continue to provide an ever expanding lineup of quality channels for the whole family, in stunning high definition.

I got the regular mail announcement about the massive channel lineup overhaul scheduled for April. While I'm happy about the channel additions; the remapping and having to update all DVR season passes will mean a lot of work.

Any further details?
For those of us who didn't get the update, what changes are there?

Self-Quoting is good

Got the flyer today; looks similar to what they're getting in Maryville, except St Louis gets it April 19 instead: http://www.myaccount.charter.com/Cus...Y.xbin?ID=2801

NEW HD Channels:
HBO 2 HD
HBO Signature HD
HBO Family HD
HBO HD OnDemand
More Max HD
Action Max HD
Showtime Too HD
Showtime Showcase HD
Showtime Extreme HD
TMC Extra HD
Starz in Black HD
Starz Cinema HD
Starz Kids and Family HD
Encore HD
EPIX HD
The Hub HD
TV Land HD
OWN HD
Style HD
BET HD
Planet Green HD
Investigation Discovery HD
Fox Business Network HD
The Tennis Channel HD
Outdoor Channel HD
Sportsman Channel HD
GSN HD
G4 HD
TCM HD

Now if only we could get ESPN3D, 3net, 5StarMaxHD, @MaxHD, CBSSportsNetworkHD, CSS and CSS HD (now that we're in SEC country), same reason for SportSouth/HD and SunSports/HD, Fuel, NBA/NBA HD, NHL HD and WGN HD!

Just to keep looking ahead
The lack of NHL HD is irritating.
Is there a breakdown of what's included in what package?

I'm glad to see The Hub and TCM, and my wife will be glad to see OWN.

I would still love to get Disney Jr and Nick Jr in HD.

NHL Network would be great as well.
I second the NHL network...why is this not available?

Also quick question - has anyone using the Ceton setup experienced problems after Microsoft rolls out its weekly patches? The past 2 updates all of my PC' either with the Ceton card in it or using a network tuner both report a tuner unavailable/conflict type message. I run through the setup within Media Center and then all is well.

Mostly just an annoyance...

I'd still like to see BBCA in HD.
I'm just hearing about this and had some thoughts.

1A: Way to go on biting the bullet and renumbering everything, including sensibly corresponding numbering like 702, 704, 705, etc for the HD versions of the locals.

1B. It looks like a lot of the other HD channels are moving, too, so why not continue this and make the other HD channels correspond to the SD numbering? eg ESPN HD at 735, etc? I guess they are sort of grouped by tier instead.

2. I'm looking at the Maryville announement, but guessing really it's the same as here. Are NBC Sports and Cartoon network really swapping 54 and 45 or is that an error?

3. A while back the bitrate was really squashed, and then after some noise brought back up. It seems to have worsened a bit in the last couple of months - some channels have noticeable compression artifiacts - though not to the same level as before. Anyway, I hope that the addition of all of these HD channels doesn't worsen picture quality any more.

4. I'm guessing all the clear QAM mappings are changing, too?
