ESPN2 feed is incorrect tonight in sd and hd. We are getting the blackout feed of espnews instead of the Royals/Angels game. St. Louis is not in the Royals' territory. We should be getting the game.

Good evening,

I am very sorry the confusion tonight. That game is blacked out on ESPN but you can view it on channel 876 during the free preview of MLB Extra innings.

Thanks and let us know if you have any other questions,

Jeremy

I have a small sd digital cable box from charter that i havent used in a long time. If i returned it to charter will it save me any money off my bill?

also im worried if i turn in my only cable box they might turn the cable off by mistake. I guess they will know i have 4 cable cards.

Good morning,

We'd have to take a look at your account to verify but more than likely it should save you some money on your account. Please pm if you'd like us to do that for you.

But why was it blacked out on ESPN? The Cubs/Brewers game was not on ESPN last night either. However, it was available on ESPN3 and also MLB.TV, which explicitly told me the game was available in my market. Does Charter have to manage these things, or do you just get info from upstream and black out per instructions?

Good Morning,

Blackouts are the result of FCC regulations regarding contractual agreements between professional sports leagues and broadcasters. Blackouts are determined by the right to broadcast a given game in a given area and are defined by sports leagues or by their rights holders, such as ESPN and TNT. Although blackouts typically occur within a 50 mile radius of the viewer's location, it is not possible for any one carrier to know and track all blackouts as they are subject to private contracts and FCC rules and can change without notice.

Thanks,

Dylan
Yeah, I knew all that. MLB.TV, according to its sign-up info/FAQ, clearly states that games are subject to blackout. I don't see why it would be blacked out on ESPN if it's not on MLB.TV. I know blackouts are not Charter's fault in general, but I thought the rules would be the same for a particular location regardless. Are you saying that ESPN may be subject to different rules, or that you as a carrier just showed what ESPN gave you and they somehow determined to send you blackout (ESPNNews, in this case)?

There seems to be a nasty pattern developing here with the MLB blackouts. Friday, it was the Royals game - yesterday the Cubs game. Is it possible the Charter downlink is feeding ZIP Codes in areas futher flung than metro St. Louis and is subjecting us to the blackouts of these outer areas?

You guys are always hearing the cries & complaints.

This is just a good'ol attboy post.
My Phone was out for over a week, [my fault for not reporting it] i just figured after the storms the Tele system had been knocked off line..

When i did inquire, a Tech was scheduled & Chris B. came out to troubleshoot & fix the problem.
He was the most pleasant, curteous & knoweldgable Tech that i have ever been given.

You guys did good fixing our phone service & i even ended up with slightly better signal for all 3 services..
You need to find & train more Techs like Chris B.

Good evening,

Anything outside of the STL DMA would receive a different feed and be bound to the blackout rules of their specified DMA.

I just noticed last night the channel lineup changed. I printed the lists of channels for the Maryville area and are noticing that some of the channels that used to be on Basic and Expanded Basic are now * which means they require a Digital tuner box. Though some I can get with my QAM tuner in my TV. I would like to know if you have a list showing what channels are on the dash CATV channels. Like KTVI has 2-1 and 2-1 which looks like you guys list as702 and 88 resp. The Weather channel is on 26-2/138 and in HD on 110-4/735. Any help?

Hi wedweb,

There have been some BIG changes in MO/IL with our new expanded Channel Line-up offering. As well as the addition of over 28 NEW HD channels. You can click your lineup here to see all changes: http://mycharterchannels.com/. I do not have a specific list of QAM stations since they change frequency more often, but this link is fairly accurate: http://www.silicondust.com/support/channels/. Be sure to change the drop down to "Charter Cable" after entering your zip code.

Did you receive the letter and/or email that was sent out about the changes?

Thanks,
Abby

Hey UMatter guys

How will TiVo HD boxes handle the big lineup changes this week (assuming it's still scheduled to happen this week)?

Will Season Passes migrate automatically to the new channel numbers?

Also, don't think there was an answer to the post earlier about new Charter-branded TiVo rollout at the end of May, and whether the boxes are 4-tuner.

thx.

All DVRs will require setting up series recordings with the new channel locations.

There is no set date on the launch. No word on 4 tuner capabilities being released.

Big problem: There appears to be no way to set this up in advance of the lineup change. The reason I asked a few posts ago is that I'll be out of town Thursday-Sunday and won't be home to baby-sit this changeover.

If I can't change either the season pass or set a new recording until the lineup is changed -- until the new channels appear on the box -- I am essentially screwed.

And not happy.
tivo will change the numbers for you. but i hope tivo updates them on time. I hope they know a lineup change is coming. I think all season passes will work without having to redo season passes.

As long as your device is compatable with the M cards you can definitely do that

Thanks,

This is a question for the U- matter guys.
I recently swapped out my old cable box for the dvr (Moxi) that was available for no extra charge. Unfortunately, no matter how I adjust the settings on my 5 year old Panasonic HDTV, the picture I get from the regular cable channels is nowhere close as good as the one previously. Serious clayface , fizzing pixels, and artificial edging are now the norm. Is there something I'm missing or is this the norm? It's so bad that I am thinking about just going back to the regular box, which had a breathtakingly great picture. Will the Tivo dvrs have a better picture quality?

thanks for your reply.

I'm getting conflicting statements ..

When the new channel lineup rolls out, with a Moto DVR ... will I need to reprogram shows that are now set to automatically record all new episodes .. ?? Or will the DVR look for the new channel after the roll out .. ?? Thanks .. I'm happy to have this resourse on AVS ..

Hi briarbruce,

Sorry to see you having some trouble with picture quality. That could be anything from a signal issue to an issue with the Moxi itself. Please PM your name, address, and phone number so that I can take a closer look at the account.

Looking forward to helping you resolve your concerns,
Abby

Sorry for any conflicting information. To set the record straight, customers WILL BE REQUIRED to reset their DVR series recordings with the new channel locations. Failure to do so may result in incorrect programming being recorded or set recordings being missed. This was news to me as well...

If you have any other questions please feel free to let us know.
