Leather Berklines and paint specksl

I have the opportunity to buy 3 used leather berkline recliners cheap. The guy that is selling them remodeled the room they were in and never covered them when he painted the room. There is really not a lot of paint specks on the chairs, but enough to annoy me and I was wondering if anyone here would know or a way to remove the paint without damaging the leather. Also on one seat it looks as like someone had sat in the seat with something sharp in their pocket and there is a small tear in the leather about 3/4" long, it looks like it was just done, as the tear is not frayed , its a clean cut .Would anyone know how this might be repaired. Other than the paint flecks, and the one small tear, the chairs show some normal wear but are in good shape otherwise. He is only asking $300.00, my plan is to use them for awhile, and spend the seating budget elsewhere, and get new ones in a year or two.

Thanks, Ed

Here are a couple useful links on cleaning leather:

If you would like, PM me your city, state and zip code and I will send you a list of authorized Berkline repair centers in your area that could repair the tear for you.

Glad I could help, guys.

Although I can't attest to their effectiveness, you can find a bunch of leather repair kits online by googling "leather repair kits".

Ken,
I have looked at those repair kits , They seem like they might work, but I cant make a decision on them unless I can find someone to vouch for them, I don't want to make the situation worse. I spoke to a guy at the nearest upholstery shop to me (60 miles) that repairs leather, he said they could fix them up, but wouldnt give a price without seeing them, I don't want to haul them there just for an estimate, and its to far for him to come here, so I am taking photos of the damage when I bring them home to see if he can make an estimate from them. I figure even if cleaning and repair would be a couple hundred bucks, that would put them back to excellent condition, I am still way below my seating budget, and may not have to buy anymore seats . Has anyone had leather seats repaired, or did a DIY repair using a online kit I would really like to hear from you how that worked out.

Thanks, ED
