Da-Lite Deluxe Model B

I am considering an Elite Cinetension screen, but now kind of not sure about them, since some people have had problems with Elite screens... Only problem is I don't want to spend 2-3K on an electric tab tensioned screen that every other company seems to be charging.... so I came across the Da-Lite Deluxe Model B, very affordable screen, it's a manual pull down screen that has a tension arm. Does it really work? Does it eliminate waves?

The tension bar on this screen just snaps down top to bottom, meaning that it tensions vertically rather than horizontally and so won't eliminate the usual V-shaped wrinkles. It certainly helps, but its not a cure-all.

Yeah, I just got a Deluxe Model B and it seems like the tensioning bar is not very effective. I have a small area of waves on each side, and this is the first time i have pulled it down.

thanks for the feedback.... looks like i'm back to considering the Elite Cinetension...

LOL...I was just looking at the deluxe B due to the tensioning. Sounds like I would be just as good with the model B and just leaving it down most of the time.

BTW I am returning my Elite Vmax screen due to hotspotting and crappy build quality.

I had a regular Model B previously which didnt have that bad a wave problem at first. I had it propped up with two bookcases and it fell over, which probably caused the waves. I dont want to totally steer you away from the Deluxe Model B. The manual says the tensioning arm is adjustable and i havent tried that yet. The waves in my screen arent really that bad and can only be seen during slow pans.

i have a regular model b for a couple months now, no issues with the high power material, def not as bad as my greywolf, it might have slight ripple but its extremely tough to notice, now my greywolf, i thought i was watching 3d movies whenever there was a camera pan

What about the Model C with HP screen material...that should run you less than an Elite Cinetension.

I only suggest this, because I'm in the midst of making the same decision. I thought a Cinetension was the answer, but they're definitely having some QC problems. I think the Model C High Power might now be the way I go.

I ended up getting the Cinetension in high contrast gray. the price is very affordable, even after shipping (and this thing is heavy). I appear to one of the lucky ones... there's a bit of damage to a plastic end cap, but I managed to repair this myself... and no issues with the screen itself... my only issue now really is that the left side of the screen is about 3mm higher than the right side (when measured from the case to the viewing area of the screen), so the screen is slightly crooked (I could try to compensate by lowering the case a bit on the left). I think I can live with that... otherwise I'm happy with the cinetension...

I did notice the tension bar helps when retracting the screen- much easier!
