I was wondering if the cheap (inexpensive) Monoprice HDMI splitter would work for my application. I am talking about Monoprice 2522
I would like to feed the output from my HD DirecTV box (HR10-250). I have both a plasma and a projector (Panny AX-100U). The projector screen is a manual pull-down that pulls down in front of my plasma. Given this, it is safe to say that I wouldn't (couldn't) use both the projector and the plasma at the same time.
I was thinking that a cheap solution probably couldn't feed both AT THE SAME TIME, but since I would only use one at a time, it might work OK. I figure that if I was cognisant of my start-up and shut down procedure, I could make it work:
1) Shut off my first device and clear the HDMI handsahke
2) Leave both devices "off" for 10 seconds or so to establish a "clear" state
3) Power up the other device and establish a new handshake.
Anybody using this in this manner? Does it work? If nobody is using it, do you think (in theory) that it WILL work?
Thanks,
FJ
