Best couch/sofa for home theater?

Do you want a reclining sofa, a sectional, or what? Need more info as to what you are looking for/thinking of.

Also Berkline makes sofas, loveseats, etc all with built in recliners...not just theater seats.

Do you have pictures of this room/current decor? There are sooooo many companies out there that make great sofas you really need to go try some out at a furniture store or look at some other living/theater rooms people have done with sofas, etc. I've seen some beautiful theater/living rooms with large sofas with loose cushions and lots of pillows. Not sure if this is your thing or not, but you need to get an idea of what you'd like. Do we have a significant other/spouse to consider in this decision?

You want just a sofa by itself? Also with a modern sleek look you tend to sacrifice soft/cushyness...so I'm guessing that doesn't matter since you've been using a futon anyway.

Check a few of these out and let me know what you think:

Lane's stationary sofa Bosa Nova (83930) which has a layer of memory foam on both sides of the seat cushions. This has somewhat of a sleek modern look but with a bit of comfort. Go to Lane's website to check it out.

From Lane's reclining furniture this is one of my personal favorites: the Alpine (20439) Sofa which looks really nice in black leather. Not quite the sleek modern look, but very nice regardless.

From Berkline check out the the 270, 180, 490, 496, 389 groups among others. The 178 group has that sports car interior look to the seats.

From Benchcraft(a part of the berkline company) check out Amsterdam 220, Harrow 488.

As for Berkline theater seats you can get armless units and make a loveseat or sofa out of them with all seats reclinging and cup holders just on the ends.

Lane's Wakefield model is also of good quality and can be had from many local retailers for under $999 delivered. It is 100% leather and comes in multiple colors.

Definately has those clean lines you'd expect to see in an empty New York loft apartment and totally uncomfortable...but hey if you like it then go for it. I personally would want something more comfortable that I could cuddle up with the chics on...but then I'm married now so I don't cuddle anymore. But I still prefer a big marshmallowy sofa to lounge in when watching tv, movies, etc.

But furniture is all about your own tastes/preferences so don't go by what I say. I was just trying to give you some stuff to look at/check out.

$100 of paint would make a world of difference.

I'd either get a nice, large, darker leather coach, or a big poofy microfabric couch with recliners.

We have a big sectional in our living room, and three of the seats have recliners. It's pretty sweet. Not sure a sectional would work in that room, or that you need that much seating.

I'm surprised you didn't like the lane midtown...even has a tight back instead of what appears to be loose back cushions on the one you showed. Just missing some arms if you need those.

We bought this curved leather sectional at our local/regional American Furniture megafurniturestore. It is very comfortable with room for two laying out end-to-end or six easily sitting up. We absolutely love it and it was exactly what we were looking for. The ottoman lids are hinged for blanket and pillow storage.



Here are a couple of links, but be advised we paid $1400 less that the price quoted on Overstock for the sofa with two ottomans. Also, it's a monster at about 11'11" from farthest edge to farthest edge. Getting it into out basement was not that difficult since the sofa is two pieces that hook together.

I don't care for leather, so we bought two of these from Sam's and are very happy with them.



They also have a recliner on each end.

Whatever you get, find a way to have your butt audition it before you buy.

I think the second one looks the best. On another note, you should throw some stuff up on the walls like some paintings or something, to warm the place up a little. Or get married, then you don't have to worry about decorating.

Now you are totally changing your tastes and those are similar to things you'll find from Lane, Berkline, and Lazy-Boy.

That looks sweet to me. DWR has good stuff, and I wouldn't be surprized if it was comfy. I don't like overstuffed leather couches. I'd rather have something firm and soft.

As for the room, I agree that you need some color on the walls and a rug in front of the TV, mix up some textures and you will add depth to the room.

I have a set of five Coasters that are fine but at times it would be nice to be able to lay down and not be stuck in the same position all the time.

I saved the photo of this couch. I don't remember where I found it, but I love the concept of the fold down armrests.
