Donkey Kong Country Impressions?

Anybody try DKC for the VC yet? Any reviews? I am interested especially in the controller scheme, and whether the GC controllers work well.

Thanks,
Don

According to IGN, this one has about as messed up button scheme as Mario World. They highly suggested the classic controller (surprise, surprise).

Yes me I downloaded DKC. I use the wavebird gamepad. I guess I'm new to Nintendo and no button mashing confuses me more than the other. So I didnt find it annoying or "messed up".

mario world is definitely an annoying control scheme on my wavebird, gonna have to get around to getting the classic controller if this is how all snes games are gonna be on it, witch is disappointing since i've never actually had mario world before (got my snes with link )

The snes came with lttp at one point I didn't remember that.

Seems like it was a special package- Toys R Us, maybe. I had the same setup on mine. I'm just now playing Super MArio World for the first time. Not bad.

dont use GC controller for VC. Only for GC games. $20 for a classic, same as lunch at McDonalds

that's some expensive lunch at McDonalds

Beat's the heck outta me when i got my snes with zelda, or where..best i do remember is me, my brother and a friend hunting around the house for spare change...$150+ later we had enough cash for an snes and pizza

as for mario world, i'm gonna hold of playing it until i can get my hands on the classic controller, it's just too annoying having the a button being the spin jump, b being normal jump, and x being for things like yoshi's tongue and such

I remember loving SMW. I never got into the N64 mario game though.

DK Country looks and runs great on my 42". It has some digitization to it but that's inevitable. It's very clean and plays great with the Classic Controller.

I got Streets of Rage also, loved that game back in the day.. didn't hold up as well as DK but cool for nostalgia.

I had been using my wavebird for the VC games but Super Contra III was the deal breaker for me, it was ridiculous how the buttons were mapped out. I'm loving the CC controller though, best $20 I ever spent, even better than the 80-piece chicken mcnugget meal at Mickey D's.

LOL

How about games like Mario Kart 64? How is the CC for that game?

I haven't downloaded that one yet, I'm sure the wavebird might be better in that case because a bit more similar to the N64 controller.

Bring on Killer Instinct & MT Punch Out!

Mario Kart 64 is the only VC game that I have heard people claim the Wavebird is better than the Classic Controller.

Wavebird works great on Super Mario 64 as well.

After being reunited with the tremendously fun game New Adventure Island, I played Donkey Kong Country and fell in love with it all over again.

There's only a couple of more days until Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available on the Virtual Console. Now that's going to be a lot of fun to revisit.

I have the OoT discs for gamecube (one with master quest plus the other compilation disc) or else I would definitely buy OoT. I guess the only way there would be any chance of me buying it would be if the CC is better for it than the GC controlle.r But I don't see that being enough reason to pay $10 for something I have 3 versions of for Wii.

I may just have to try to get a Wii just for all of these cool old games. The SNES and TurboGrafx 16 games sure bring back memories.

Any N64 game is going to play better on the GC controllers. It's the SNES games that might suck.
