Anybody else just watch the Forza show on Speed?

Just finished watching this show, and I have to say, it was fantastic. I liked how they tried to integrate a few different types of cars (except having 2 350Zs was kind of lame) to go against eachother. And I'm on record now, those boys had better watch out for that girl. If she'd of started that race at the end, she'd of handed them another loss I think. She's going to be sneaky.

350Z's show casing Forza 2? That's like having my 4 banger on thier show, show casing it's low end torque...Unless they were showing how real the damage is with the 350Z with a crack in the road otherwise show off a Lambo Diablo

Wait 'till you see next week when the 350 hits the wall

Were they showing gameplay footage on the show?
something didnt seem right. The vette should have smoked the GT in the 1/4 mile

Yeah, in between the segments they had gameplay in there. It looked pretty good. The drivers were also playing the game as practice for the road course before they ran it, which I thought was pretty cool. And yes cleric, the vette should have crushed the GT, but it's never about the car...it's all about the driver. That mantra has helped me crush a few people on the track in my loley little Audi TT
post #7 of 51
I forgot all about it, guess I'll catch it next week and hopefully can dl or catch a replay of the 1st.

the more i think about it an LS2 should DESTROY the GT. The GT has less power and should way more. I do not race but could prolly have beaten the GT with that vette.

Come on, easy on the Z. Its a great car - even if you don't consider that its like an order of magnitude cheaper than a Diablo.

I actually prefer it when they put cars in the game that I can afford and see on the road.

I'm so envious. I'd run down my specs, but it'd probably get this thread locked. Hit me with an e-mail though. Are you a West Coast guy? Will you be going to TT-West?

On topic, does anybody know what the lineup for BMW and Audi will be on Forza 2? I'd be curious if they were going to have local tracks as well. It looked like they had Road Atlanta, which is pretty small in the grand scheme of things, so it leaves me hopeful they'll have Portland International Raceway. Yeah right, I know, but still it'd be cool and good practice for me in the rainy season.

Here you go.

http://forzamotorsport.net/news/anno...urocarlist.htm

Audi:

2004 Audi TT Coupe 3.2 quattro
2000 Audi S4
2004 Audi S4
2003 Audi RS 6
2006 Audi RS 4

BMW:

1997 BMW Motorsport M3 E36
2005 BMW Motorsport M3 E46 Coupe
2002 BMW Motorsport M3-GTR

I think the tracks were listed in the other Forza thread.

Oh, and I jus watched the showdown. Who would have guessed that the Year Ones would have reliability issues .
I was fairly disappointed with the show. The reliability issues that came up (fuel starving, gears locked out, etc) are just inexcusable, especially from "experienced tuners". I'm also very surprised they're letting these people race wheel to wheel at RA without rollcages; I don't know many racing organizations that would let that happen. Throw in there that most of the drivers seem inexperienced (e.g. see Gushi throwing a hissy-fit and banging on the wheel, cutting corners, making stupid moves to try and pass), I think this show is just calling for a disaster. And the last thing to complain about is all of the reality-TV show drama; come on, just show the events and some commentary from the drivers/crews and be done with it!

As for the cars, I think they should have gone with just 1 350Z and put in something else; the Z doesn't even come close to the other cars in raw power (well, on top of the fact it's a pig). I'm sure they chose the Z because people today consider it a "tuner car", but it seems dumb to have two of them. I would personally love to see an S2000 out there, but judging on how "skilled" these drivers are, they'd probably just have the tail keep coming around on them. But that's just me. ;-)
The 350Z is also the cover girl for Forza2, so I'm sure that has something to do with the duplication.

The wheel banging was funny though, that's pretty much what I look like driving home from work every night . And as for that insane corner cutting, is that even legal? I've played some GTR, and whenever I've cut a corner like that there is a warning/penalty...

I'm surprised he didn't break something!
gushi's corner cutting reminded me of alex zanardi at leguna seca. but he did a good job keeping up with the vette which should have smoked him on road atlanta.

i saw that at least one car had a rollcage and i'm pretty sure that none of these are stock models. the mustang gt obviously had a hp boost.

and 350's aren't pigs. they are well balanced and tight handling. and 306hp is nothing to sneeze at. (z owner/fanboy)

The 350 has 287HP stock before it is tuned, which means roughly 230 to the wheels (if memory serves me correctly). I agree the Vette should have handed it to everyone there, but it's all about the driver baby. As I said before, I have had my share of track victories in my TT when I had no business beating the other car. Same goes in the game as well (keeping the thread open). You can have all the HP in the world, but not knowing the course, the proper apex, or the fastest lines, and you'll get crushed by a less-worthy car. Happens all the time.

I agree with the realiability issues mentioned by aronparsons. Granted, these things do happen, but there is no excuse for having your car break down before your first quartermile run when you've had at least 2 or 3 months to prep the car during preproduction of the show. Too bad too, 'cause that car could have caused some damage. Props to the chicka though for handing it to the boys.

I didn;t see the show but the best show for admiring cars is Top gear. It's only on BBC2 but I get it off of the net(it blocked the name of a popular p2p protocol).
A few comments....

I didn't see the show but will catch it next week. Video games and racing FTW.

Don't under estimate the 350z on a track. Power isn't everything.

Nice cars Audi guys. I would love to race you fellows one day (not in a video game).

The Diablo is old and busted. Gallardo with TT kit is the new hotness!

350z versus ls2 vette and the vette should win everything

You know it! Gallardo is sick. Very fun to drive. One of the few cars I've been in that I scared myself with All smiles though But, the 350 is kind of a piece on the track in stock form. She's kind of fat with a low power-weight ratio compared to others in the same group. It has great balance front to rear though. Still, it's an inexpensive foray into a bigger world, and would be a decent platform to start with. I'll be curious to see what components the game will offer to lighten it up and power it up in the game. Being the showcase car on the cover, they better put some boost options into that badboy.
i agree, they should have gotten rid of at least one of the year one classics (or both) and add a gallardo. they could have let a total amateur drive it to balance things out a bit, since it seems they matched the drivers to the cars.

the older model year 350z's had 287hp but it has 306hp now.

There you have it then. My bad. Don't keep up much on the new Japanese specs since I only see them in the rear-view I think they put the Z06 on the show to do just what you were suggesting the Gallardo do. That Z06 is a damned supercar at a 70k price. And that kid driving it is a joke. Same with the drift-kid driving the 350. I don't see either of them winning much more unless they really get it together. The girl has talent, the other 350 driver has talent, and the two old guys have old cars so they're screwed already (as showcased by the crankshaft flying through the floor of the car). If they incorporate that into the game, I'm stoked.

Speaking of which, does Forza 2 have realistic damage and tire wear along the lines of Gran Turismo? I always thought Turismo did a good job with that (except the tires, which always burned out WAY too fast!).

I believe it said the vette was an LS 2 not an LS 7. If it was a z 06 vette and he lost a 1/4 mile to a mustang GT he should have his driving license and man card taken away. a 505 hp vette made of carbon fiber versus a 300 horse power care made of crap. MAYBE if it was a GT500 and not a GT it would have a chance but given weight ratios i still think the vette would win.

The old muscle cars look AMAZING. i would not mind having one just for fun. But i find it kind of funny, i find it kind of sad that they are having so much problems.

I hope they put this show on the marketplace before the games comes out.

I was pretty sure they said it was a Z06. I've been wrong about a couple of things before, but I was pretty certain about this.

and the vette is an LS2

the vette should be lighter, but at 400 CRANK hp, the vette is at a slight disadvantage compared to the mustang's 423 WHEEL horsepower (thanks to a vortec s/c) and a more expirienced driver.

seems to me like they took the cars and matched them with the drivers. took the second fastest car with the best handling and gave it to the kid, the fastest car went to the chick, etc, etc. the guys with the most driving expirience got the Z's and the bigger guys got the older cars cause they're a little harder to drive.
my question than is if the stang is modified and laying 423 to the wheel why are the other cars (350zs) not modded too? IF they were to throw a TT kit, gut some of the weight , throw a 100 shot on the 350 they would have a chance. the vette would put at elast 330ish to the wheels and the difference in weight would be huge. My question is what was modded on the stang before they went in.
