Hi,

Does anyone on this board know where I can get a copy of both American Beauty and Workingman's Dead in DVD-Audio? It seems that it is out of print. I have ordered it from Amazon via Caiman (for a pretty penny) but it has been 'processing' for over a week now and I have the feeling that they do not have it in stock.

Thanks,

Ryan.

I thought they also put those out in duel disk with DVD A?

I have the original DVD A's from a few years back but also remember seeing these on duel disk....

good luck,

Keith

Sound & Vision Planet has American Beauty for $19. I've ordered from them once before (Beck Guero Deluxe edition) & had good service. I placed another order last week when they had a 24 hour sale that I'm waiting on - I expect it to arrive soon. They do have exemplary response times on emails, although their web site isn't the best of the best - it does get the job done though.

Hope that helps a little...

I see the dualdisc version available but no mention of DVD-Audio. Is this the same thing?

Some DualDiscs have proper DVD-Audio content, but not all. Neither of the two I own have, alas (Pink + Weird Al... ). Some are just DVD-Video with Dolby Digital and maybe DTS.

The Grateful Dead American Beauty DualDisc is DVD-Audio: 96/24 5.1-channel, and 192/24 2-channel. At least according to someone on quadraphonicquad.

Bought the Greatful Dead - American Beauty DualDisc, $14.95 at Ameoba Records Hollywood, a few weeks ago. Sounds Great.

Some of the reviews on Amazon for the DualDisc say it's a DVD-A dualie. The DualDisc version would have the CD on one side and some form of DVD on the other - in this case it appears to be DVD-A, but not always (and never if it's a Sony label).

The downside of Dualies are they are thicker than a normal CD/DVD and thus not a good match for slot loading players & the "CD" side does not meet the Red Book CD spec.

Personally I'd just buy the DVD-A (the Sound & Vision planet description makes no mention of DualDisc so I'm presuming it's available in both forms), but if having a CD version around is beneficial to you, the Dualie may make more sense. Plus the Dualie is the same price at Amazon which is a vendor you can certainly count on...

The DVD-A stereo mix on the Rhino American Beauty Dual Disc is actually 96/24, not 192/24. The case says 192, but it's wrong. Still sounds great, tho.
