Poor Signal or Poor Cable Company?

I've been reseaching for about a week on why I am receiving most of my Suddenlink (San Angelo, Texas) analog cable channels in mono sound. This includes WFAA (ABC), KERA (PBS), KWSA (CW). Now, I can understand channels like shopping networks and others of that sort, but Sci-Fi in mono is like have a root canal performed.

I've even gone as far as to e-mail their tech support and much to my suprise did not receive a reply.

Now if I were a betting man, I would bet it's not a poor signal that I'm not receiving these channels in stereo...but I have been known to be wrong before...can some one prove me otherwise?

Thanks,
Chris

It is time to come out of the 80's and into the digital world of today.

OH...don't get me wrong...I'm running digital cable w/DD 5.1...it's just analog channels that I was discussing since the broadcast channels apparently haven't reached a deal to trasmit their HD signal over cable yet.

Even if you prefer to remain in the analog world of yesterday... {severe sarcasm}

How is your cable feed connected to the TV? Cable box? direct from wall to TV.

With analog, "stereo" requires an MTS pilot signal. If you use a cable box that is MTS compliant, then you probably will have to use the red/white audio cables from the cable to the TV for stereo.

If you go directly from the wall to the TV, the you must verify that:
a) your TV is MTS stereo compliant
b) the cable provider passes the MTS stereo pilot carrier

I'm running my audio from a Motorola DCT6200 via optical audio to a Panasonic SA-XR10 receiver.

Add red/white audio cables. That may work for analog channels.
Depending on how your A/V receiver works, you may have to manually "switch" audio when changing between "analog" and "digital" channels.
