What are the chances that...?

...we will see a high-performance 1080p projector for under $3,000 by the end of the year? This is strictly for my own reference. $3,000 is my upper limit and I'm trying to decide whether to get a plasma now or wait for prices on 1080p projectors to tumble.

Why not get a really good 720P. Resolution by itself does not make for a better picture. Besides the plasma won't be 1080P (at least not under 3K)

The Sony and the Panny (after rebate) 1080p are both hovering around $3500, and it's only February. There's no way they won't be around $3000 by the end of the year, then maybe $2500 by the end of '08, then... Ya gotta love technology!

That's true. I'm expecting the lumen counts to increase significantly next year though. Also specifically waiting for Sanyo to come out with their 1080p projector.
