Best Choice for HD in an iMac?

It looks like the 2 choices for getting an HD signal into an iMac is the ElGato eyeTV hybrid and the Miglia TVMini HD. Does anyone have a strong recommendation of one over the other? My first use will be for OTA ATSC TV viewing. I thought there was a HDTV receiver with a Firewire connection, but I can't seem to find such a product for sale.

My iMac is a 24" Intel with 2GB of memory, and the upgraded CPU and video card, if that makes any difference in recommendations.

Thanks for any advice.

The eyetv 500 is the firewire device that has been discontinued. You will have to search ebay, etc.

In my tests, the hybrid had a very weak signal strength compared to the miglia tvmini hd. Of course YMMV. The miglia can also tune into clear qam. I ended up giving up on the hybrid, there were too many dropped signals and too much antenna adjusting for me to keep.

Definitely try and pick up a used EyeTV 500 on ebay. Seems to be working much better than anything else these days.

Third that recommendation.

Thanks for the advice. There must be some old stock still floating around; I seem to have found a new unit on Amazon. With all the devices I already have plugged into my USB bus, I think a Firewire connection should prove less troublesome, given the amount of data an uncompressed HD signal creates.

Even though the EyeTV 500 is officially discontinued, I ordered one new from jr.com. At first I got a backorder notice and figured that was the end of that. Today, though, I got an e-mail that the unit had shipped.

Just passing along the information in case anyone else was wanting a Firewire HD tuner for a Mac. JR.com's price, with shipping, came to $167.62.
