Neo Geo games coming for VC - in Japan this summer

Okay, this will get me interested in the VC a bit more. I'd pay $10 for some classic Neo Geo games like Nam '75, Magician Lord, and Samurai Spirits. Hopefully the price point will be that or less.

I just saw this as well. I never got to enjoy the Neo Geo love, so I'm looking forward to a few downloads later this year.

As long as someone comes out with a joystick this is VERY good news.

The Wii should be able to play any game that MAME can play. I'd imagine a ton of VC games coming.

I'm loving all the VC titles they are releasing, so far it's a lot better than Live Arcade imo.

I miss the Neo Geo Pocket Color. I blame the Gameboy for it's demise. It's not like it was expensive. Tarnation!

There was a Hori soul calibur stick for gamecube that should work with VC games...
There are also PS2 -> GC adapters that should allow you to use any of the many good PS2 arcade sticks on VC games on the Wii.

I absolutely loved Magician Lord even though that game was really hard. I'm thinking about buying the Wii in the future (current 360 owner) and that one game will almost force me to buy it.

I don't have a Wii (not much of a gamer), but am interested in picking one up specifically for Virtual Console since I *was* a big gamer back in the 8-16 bit era.

The Neo Geo games would be a super bonus for me.

Queston:

I've heard that Wii VC games are locked to the console, so if your Wii breaks... bye bye VC game investment.

Does anyone know if Nintendo plans to change this anytime soon? This is the big things that prevents me from buying in right now.

The games are locked to the console, I don't think this will ever change. Having said that I don't think that "if your Wii breaks... bye bye VC game investment." If you send your Wii in for repair they will recover your games for you.

Because emulation usually blows, and neo-geo emulation in particular is pretty spotty.
Not to mention its illegal to download roms.

Now it just remains to be seen if the "official" emulation on the Wii does a good job (so far, the other consoles are emulated much better on wii than on a pc or modded xbox).

I'll just play them on my Neo-geo though. The real thing is always better than emulation or ports.

Pelican made an arcade stick that worked with GC, XBOX, and PS2. My little bro has one, very good quality.

no offense, but the pelican stick is most definitely NOT good quality... the stick/buttons are junk.
MAS makes a GC stick, which is very good and uses quality Happ parts.
My preference is a Hori Real Arcade Pro for PS2, using an adapter (it uses a Sanwa stick).

I really expected to hear something about the Neo Geo Virtual Console debut around the time of E3, but nothing! Did I miss it or is there still no info on this?

Just FYI : "I've heard that Wii VC games are locked to the console, so if your Wii breaks... bye bye VC game investment."

That is completely false. You can re-download the VC games if your wii breaks free of charge. Been there, done that.
