Epson Pro Cinema ?

Hi all....A few months ago I start shopping locally for my first projector and kinda settled on a Epson 800 for $2600. Now we have a contractor lined up to start finishing off our basement and I want to start ordering things. I went back to the store and they dicontinued the 800. Now they have the 810 model for $3000. I went home and got online to find I can order the 800 for $2000 now.

Is the 810 that much better? The difference from what I can see is in the contrast. I am looking at a 106" screen and have plenty of through room. I could go back as far as 20 feet if I need to, but probably am looking at more like 17. The main use for it will be sporting events and movie watching in HD. I know some people really like the Epson powerlite line as well. Thanks in advance for any input!!!

I think the 810 is a decent step up from the 800. If you are looking to save some money don't discount the 400 (which I have). It would be very similar to last years 800, and a small step below the 810. Some may also recommend importing the 810 from hong kong (Its called the TW-700 over there) to save 50%, but I was weary of the international warranty. Many folks here have done it though, caveat emptor.

I'm going to import the TW700. It is definately cheaper than the 810 with all the same features except in a white case instead of black. I personally can't vouch for the difference between the 800 and the 810, but I say go for the best one considering there isn't a whole lot of price difference. Check out the 810 (TW700) thread for details on importing. You can get the TW700 for 25% less than the 800

the tw700 is awesome! the picture quality is superb. As you may know, the 810 (TW700) is Epson professional series which they mostly sell through special dealers and installers. For that reason the price tends to stay a little on the high side. but from what I can tell, its well worth the money. if you want to see a review on the 810 (tw700) go to the link below. They compare the three most popular projectors.
