Looking for Projector for gaming, movies, and TV.

This is a new thread from a newbie so bear with me and...be gentle. I have a 24 by 20 square foot soon to be HT room. 480 square feet. I have 7.1 surround sound and am looking for a multipurpose ceiling mount (about 13 feet from the wall) projector that can handle and perform well for xbox, TV, and DVD movies. Is there one out there that anyone recommends that can do all those things. I would like it to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000-1500 dollars if possible. It doesn't have to be the newest and the best (obvious from the dollar amount) but one that will do the job. I have good lighting control with only two windows and dimmer lights. Any help would be great. I have been looking at the optoma 1690 or the mitsibishi (SP??) 1000?? Anyways, thank you.

I think an Epson 400 would be a good choice. Buy it from the warehouse and you'll have a good warranty.

I got the Sanyo Z5 for the reasons you describe and I love it.

I' look at the Optoma HD70 or 72, or the Mitsubishi's.

For that price, you have quite a few very good options. The hard part will be to decide on ONE! If you've never had a projector before, the lowest priced ones like the Mitsubishi 1000u will blow you away! Don't let the low prices fool you. These entry level pj's are pretty amazing.

Thank you for your reply's, I guess I worry about not getting enough lumens or contrast ratio. I am looking for bang for my buck, and I think the mits 1000 is looking pretty good right now. Thanks againl.

How high are your ceilings? That seems to be the deciding factor for many of us. Most of the lower cost DLP projectors have a very steep lens offset, so they are tough if not impossible to mount on low ceilings.
