Polk speaker? Good or bad

Your best bet is to go out and listen to those and see what your ears like best.

Is futureshop some local a/v store, or is it a internet store?

Polk Audio makes descent speakers, and they have high-end speaker LSi's.

How big is the room the speakers will be in?

You should go in and hear them before you buy them. You should also look at the
Athena AS-F2.s's or AS-F2.1's, $50 cheaper might sound as good or better to you.

I'm not a fan of any other Polk speakers other then the LSi's. The LSi's are like no other Polk.

I know you don't want to spend a lot of cash right now. But I feel there are better speakers and deals out there then the Polk's.

I have the Polk LSI15's for my main theatre speakers and am driving them with a Hafler D500 amp. They are 4ohm speakers and the Hafler is high current so it gives the Polks the power that they need to really shine.
I Have them bi-wired so the bass is excellent for my room. They actually sound as good as my neighbors Focal 10 something speakers driven by Denon. I hardily reccoment the Polk LSI15's but NOT the LSI25.

P.S If you are on a tight budget you may want to look at the Fluance line of speakers. They are mfg. by Polk and I hear they sound pretty amazing for their cost. Only sold on line though. Keeps cost down.

I believe Polk's M series is their new entry level line. I listened to the similar monitor series, and it sounded OK until I switched over to a Boston Acoustics, then it sounded like mud in comparison.

I own the Polk RTi series and have all bookshelves (Rti6 & RTi4 plus the CSi30 center).

I'm sure the LSi's are great but I can't afford them. I don't even want to listen to them,cause they might make me think my system is crap.

My RTi's, including a subwoofer, make a great home theater. They suit me fine for music also.

That is totally false polk audio does not make fluance speakers ,
so whomever told you that is a liar.
Fluance is based in canada and polk makes their speakers here in the USA.

Go take a listen to them. You can find the lower end polk at any CC. I own a CSi5, RTi6', and I think they sound very clear and smooth. Not harsh at all, and still detailed. Are they the best out there? Of course not, but they are affordable, and much better than many other things out there. If you like them then that is all that matters.

If you're Futureshopping, there's a good bet that there's an A&B Sound located in your area (you didn't say where you are). Go over there and have a listen. They carry much better speaker lines (Energy, Totem).

The RTi line is being replaced with new models, which features revised drivers and a new. The RTiA line will hit stores in May. Ironically, I found little information about these new models on the Polk site (including their forum), but did read the announcement in the new issues of The Absolute Sound. The new cabinets will still offer the real veneer choice, but they will be curved cabinets - sort of like the Onix Rockets. The MSRP prices that were posted did appear to be slightly more than the current RTi line, but not horribly expensive.

I think this should become interesting when they get released. The RTi line has taken some abuse from people who didn't like the sound - and, it will be interesting to see how these fare. BTW, I have owned the RTi8 speakers in the past. To me, I appreciated the detailed sound. When it comes to the LSi line, one would need to get sufficient amplification to get the speakers up and humming. To me, they just don't sound good unless they're getting lots of juice. Then again, I don't think I'd purchase them because I do enjoy lower level listening and I don't think they'd please me.
