This is what I have been having trouble figuring out: Why would you buy an upscaling DVD player like the Oppo line if you have a good TV and a good 480p DVD player? (not a rhetorical question, please respond if you know)
I watched Flags of Our Fathers from my old 480p Panasonic DVD Recorder on Saturday and my Sharp 52D92U upconverted it to 1080p just fine. It wasn't nearly as good as 720p or 1080i/p source material, but it sure was pretty good.
I understand looking for upconversion in a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player--why wouldn't you. But why buy a non HD DVD player with "upconversion" ability when you already have a good TV?
