Hi there guys. Anybody heard from dachavez? I'm still waiting for him to help me finish the final design/modification of my marquee. I e-mailed him a couple of times and I never got a reply. This was from a few weeks ago. Just wondering if there's anybody out there that can help me. Thanks.
Volley. Just sent you a PM................
volley doesnt have time to do them for us anymore
post #307 of 459
Yeah, I think volley's wife is having a baby soon that's why.

Help! Is there anyone out there who's knowledgeable and kind enough to help me finish my marquee? I just need some little modifications on the text. Thanks.

So I've had this backburnered a while and got around to this again. Planning on a 2 foot x 6 foot backlit poster box for my concession area. Still need to get this printed out and build the box, but here is my latest work. I'l use real vinyl letters to do movie titles I think, but I may just put something into the image and be done with it.

Wow! That will be huge Bud!!
It will scale up that much without loss of detail??

No need to scale, I created the file at the the actual size at a high resolution. The jpg here was scaled down to host it on the picture site. I actually had a sample printed a while back to double check it and I should be good to go!

Not sure if you are looking for steps on how to produce the print or make the lightbox. If you are looking for directions on how to make the lightbox, I created a very low budget site explaining the major steps here... http://home.mchsi.com/~oldwoodstheater/lightbox.html

Just e-mailed you Bud. Thanks.
Hi everyone. Finally, after weeks and weeks of waiting for somebody to help me finish my marquee signs, someone in here was kind enough to go to the rescue. Bud aka chinadog, my endless thanks to you for your help and expertise in finishing my marquee signs. I know it was very time consuming on your part but without you, my shadow box will still be vacant and empty. Here are the marquee signs that he helped me finish with all the modifications and changes:

Attachment 90878

Attachment 90879

Attachment 90880

And here's one of the finished marquee sign that I decided to put on the door of my home theater:

Attachment 90881

The other marquee signs, I'll just decide where to put them next. In the end, I'm happy with the results.

Nice 'Dog!
I did this one yesterday.......
ALl I need to do is backlight it and connect to the top of my stairway, going down in to the HT....

I MAY make another one for movie titles etc below it. It was really pretty fun, I get to play with photoshop 7, and it looks pretty cool too

More fun stuff!

25.5" x 48 - had to go smaller to fit on a heating duct run.

Thanks for the accessible files!
Just wanted to mention that Volley's original Photo Shop file from the theater_sign.zip file can be edited using The Gimp 2.2.17.

Months ago when I first saw this thread I tried an earlier version of The Gimp but it could not load the file. Being a Linux user only, I didn't make my sign since I couldn't edit the file and I'm not artistic enough to create something on my own.

Thanks to everyone in this thread. Now that I have my edited image I'm off to have it printed and to get the supplies to build it now!

I am new to Photoshop. I have hidden the logos that I don't want, but how do I import the ones, I do want?
Does anyone have this file that they could send to me?

"18x24 Ticket Booth"

PM me and we can go from there. Thanks in advance.

I trotted off to Kinko's and Michael's and -- Tada! -- here it is.

Cost me $28 total ($15 shadow box, $13 printing), though it looks like it cost $100 or more. I opted not to backlight it as I have a front light very close to it. I also swapped out Dachavez's Sony, Yamaha, and Klipsch icons for HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, and DVD icons.

What do you think?

Thanks a million guys! I absolutely love it.

Is there anyway someone could help me out here?
I LOVE this marquee. I don't have photo shop. Could someone give me a hand with what I want to make it say?
