i tried to pm you but i can't as i don't have enough posts, so i am hoping you read this:

I am having a hard time trying to modify the photoshop template and i just needed the name to be changed to "Chauhan Family Cinema", and then the neon "Welcome" instead of the concession stand. I hope you can help me with that.

How do you guys change the title of the movie in the "Now Showing" slot?
I bought a pack of transparencies from office depot. I just print out what movie I want, cut them to size and tape them to the sign.

I pm Dachavez too to make me a marquee sign I hope he can still make me one. All of the marquee signs here are all very nice and it is really a great addition in the HT.

Everybodies pics look great. I don't have a wide format printer so will have Staples or a print shop print my psd file. Is there anything special I need to tell them to do? Just print onto glossy photo paper, you do not need to print on both sides?

These things are cool any tips on making one?

Its a photoshop file, you need photoshop.

I know its kinda a long thread but read thru it and all the build info is here, its basically a 9x20 shadow box with 12' of rope light in in, then the image printed out.

I bought two of these from Bed Bath & Beyond (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...4774670&RN=698) and had www.movie-theater-lightboxes.com print the mylar. You can see pictures of how they turned out in thread #363.

My wife (a graphic artist) did up one for me a couple of years ago as a gift for my birthday.

That is absolutely gorgeous Slack...wow

I went to Staples to get the file printed out but it really did not come out all that great. The glossiest paper they have for something 9 x 20 is really just a matte type finish as opposed to a glossy one.

I put it in my box and it really looked washed out. Even with the crackle style acrylic and vellum paper. The black really washed out and looked almost gray. Anyone know if Kinkos printing would have the same type problem as Staples?

Here's a picture of what happened to mine...

You need to find a place that will print it on backlit paper. You should also check to see if they will do a glossy laminate on it to protect the print and give it a glossy finish.

If you can't find anyone locally, send me a PM and I might be able to work something out on getting you a nicely printed one for your sign. My wife has such resources available to her....

That happened to me when trying to find the best medium to print on. You can have it printed again and double it up so that both prints are perfectly aligned. That helps significantly.

Surprised to see this thread still alive! FYI, CS3 can still run on Windows 7 :-) If anyone needs help on theirs, let me know. Still don't have a printer that can pull this off though :-(

Well, I stopped by my local sign shop and asked for some help. They suggested I have it printed on adhesive backed vinyl. The same stuff they use on illuminated signs and let me tell you...it worked beautifully. He also laminated the print to give it extra protection being mine will be outside.

It was very easy to apply and it actually attaches to the front of the glass on the shadow box. The detail really comes through the graphic and I could not be happier with it. The guy charged me $40 for the vinyl print and that included the laminate he applied to it as well. Not bad if you ask me...here's the finished product.

P.S. Thanks to all those who offered the information and help to help guys like me get these things done...it's that kind of effort that makes this place the terrific resource it is.

Looks great man! I just preferred to do mine on an insert so I can switch it out for Superbowl, College Games, or when i update my equipment and such

Sticking it on the front of the glass makes it a little more permanent.
If I wanted to be able to change it out I could just stick it to a piece of Plexiglas and then put that inside the glass. Then, when I have another one made up for whatever reason, stick that one on a piece of Plexiglas glass and swap it out with the original.

As a matter of fact, that's not a bad idea and it allows for some flexibility in regard to what I'm using the sign for...I think I'll try that.

They added some new ones. Looks like they copied slackshot's wife's design for one

I like "The Palladium" one but that price is still unbelievable. I am doing a new super hero intro now but may do something similar after that for another marquee as I like that better than what I currently have.

I realize this is an old thread, but could someone show me how to modify the .psd file for the original poster's marquee? I just need to figure out how to change the name from SCHUETTER CINEMAS to CYPRESS POINTE CINEMA...

I downloaded GIMP, but I can't figure out how to select the text so I can modify/edit it.

I can get the printing done locally...use backlit mylar, right?

Thanks in advance, any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
