HD DVD's at Hollywood Video within 6 months

Today I rented the Prestige and Departed at my local Hollywood Video and asked the manager when they were expecting to stock HD DVD's. To my surprise he actually had an answer. He informed me they will begin to stock the HD DVD format in 6 months and that I shouldn't expect a lot, but they are going to start testing the waters.

Looks like the Sony pundits got another one wrong. HD DVD gone by the end of the year? I don't think so.

HD-DVD gone by the end of this year? Yeah right. Wrong by a long shot. 6 months, Blockbuster has already began to rent them. Online and in some stores. I use BB online and love it. Total Access baby

WITHOUT PROOF YOUR FUD MEANS NOTHING

I remember walking into Hollywood Video back in January and the clerk told me that there were no movies yet on HD DVD or Blu-ray. After correcting her, I haven't been back since. I have a Blockbuster not too far from me that has quite a healthy selection of both HD DVD and Blu-ray.

sarcasm: stating the opposite of the intended meaning, e.g. using "that's fantastic" to mean "that's awful". It is used in a humorous manner, often harshly, and is expressed through vocal intonations such as over-emphasizing the actual statement or particular words. Use of sarcasm is sometimes viewed as an expression of concealed anger[2] or annoyance. Sarcasm can also be used situationally for e.g. "the couch is so big" when referring negatively to the fact that the couch is actually small.

The Hollywood Video close to me has been renting both formats for a couple of months now. However, the ratio of Blu-ray to HD DVD is about 5 to 1.

There are two Hollywood Video stores on Long Island that have been carrying both HD DVD and Blu Ray for a few months now. Unfortunately neither the store near my house nor the one near my office is one of them.

A friend of mine is a regional manager for Hollywood and, back on New Years Day, he told me that he expected both formats in the stores by the end of January (which didn't occur). On Friday, I spoke to someone at the store near my house who told me that they were now being told that they would arrive in March.

She also told me that nobody in the store was too thrilled by this news because they aren't looking forward to having to explain the differences between the three different DVD formats to confused customers.

[geek]You actually just defined irony. Verbal irony is stating the opposite of the intented meaning. Sarcasm is the use of irony to insult or mock someone. Most verbal irony is sarcastic. But saying, "boy it's another beautiful day" while it rains outside is actually an ironic statement, not sarcastic. It is when your ironic statements are aimed towards mocking someone, that they become sarcastic. And my high school English teacher would be proud...[/geek]
