Any Canadians had warranty issues buying from the US?

Total noob with projectors so I'm looking into starting off with the Hitachi that's dirt cheap in the US now. The only place I've seen in Calgary that sells it wants about 4 times what I see it priced at in the US.

My question is about the warranty. I know I can't purchase any bulb warranty from the US vendor since I'm in Canada but since there is Canadian Hitachi would the manufacturer's warranty still be good?

Any Canadians had any warranty problems? I've got family in Chicago so I guess I could always have things sent there first but shipping things twice just to get it or send it in for a warranty issues is a major pain.

Warranty is only valid in country of purchase. You can get a Z5 with a spare lamp for 2K....in Canada

Trying to come in under 1K for my first projector. The Z5 is more that double the price. Although I do like the idea of the extra lamp.

I was wondering about ordering a PJ from Canada for use in the US. Some PJ are readily available in Canada that are not in the US.

Try the HC3100 or the HC1100. Reviews at www.cine4home.com.

HC3100 may be more than $1500 CAN but the HC1100 may be under $1000 CAN.

Does someone sell the 3100 in Canada?

I don't know about Hitachi but some companies do provide warranty support on both sides of the border, Benq for one. I've bought one and have had no issues on warranty claims. Check with the manufacturer.

I looked about 5 weeks ago and it was available from eastporters ... hopefully you know their web page.

I am now leaning towards the W9000 so I stopped looking at the HC3100.

Seems they no longer sell Mits projectors and most others, you need to import it now from Japan.

The w9000 seems hard to find as well, maybe harder as I dont think you can even import it...

I'm not seeing much advantage to 1080p at all, in fact it often makes images softer like DVD and usual HDTV quality programs, I'm thinking the 3100 just might be the best solution. Low cost, great blacks, etc.
