Barco 1200 tubes: 09MI(x) - HELP!

If you swap the CRT socket out, you can use the MEC P19 tubes if you can find one of those.

You can Mix and Match on the 1200 chassis.

I have seen them from barco like this. Any 1209 9 inch tube will work as well. You can use the old neck card but re-wire the socket ( We can do it just send to us) .

Or even easier get a neck card out of a 1209 or 1208 and just simply swap. You wont need the RED Spark Suppressor lead anymore .

I have been running a 1208 the last 3 years that has mixed tubes. It has a MEC P19 green tube and 09MI blue/red tubes all using the black neck boards. Blue and red were modified on the sockets to accept the sony configuration. After 3 years in my theater I have noticed a very minor but persistant issue. I do not know whether it is the tubes themselves or whether it is a filament voltage issue. When you first turn the projector on, for about the first 3 seconds the picture is skewed towards green color temperature but then the red/blue balances out and is watchable. I would say though it takes around 30 minutes of run time before perfect gray scale is achieved.

I heard someone on this board mention that 09MI does take a slightly higher filament voltage specification than the P19 and if this is true I am thinking this might cause the delay for red (and blue to a lesser extent) taking longer than green to warm up. Or perhaps my red tube just has lower emission reading than it should. All of the tubes are perfect wear wise but I do not have any way to test emission nor do I know the exact hours of my tubes. In any case, its barely noticable and not a serious issue for me but its just one of those things you can notice after many years of viewing the same projector.

Greg, on another thread I notice you have encountered the BSX-20 final driver transistor can fail on barco 12xx chassis. When you see this failure, have you noticed any difference to gain following warmup or does it stay evenly constant? I doubt the transistor would cause my issue though, my best guess right now is just a slight lessor red gun emission compared to the green.

I have the 1209 neck cards and I think I might have a P19 blue with little 16:9 wear.........

Well no matter what I tell people they still do MIX and Match of different hours.

See the real issue is hours of operation not the Front face of the tubes. If you are getting a used projector it is important to get one with low hours on the tubes. Chassis hours are not as important. Caps tend really degrade at 10k+ hours and the video chain is shot on most units at 10k+ unless you recap. You lose a lot of detail with the old 10k+ caps. Caps are rated to last 8k or 10k depending on the orginal type purchased.

IF you have 10k on your RED but the face of the tube is perfect you have a 30% lower RED output no matter how you adjust the G2.

When doing a re-tube its important to replace all three at one time or you will have PEEKS that are not balanced. CRT projector have peeks that LCD and DLP do not. Your peeks or high brightness situations will be compromised when you are doing a high hour tube with a low hour tube because the peaking wont be present. When we re-tube a unit for our customers we always do the RED tube even if the face is perfect.

That being said most of the tubes have the same F1 but make sure that this is ok. Check it on all projectors because it can drift and the regulators can burn out that can blow out your tubes.

Yes the BSX and the Main VPA-13 can have heat related issues can you can have issues at startup. I would suspect that your other tubes are getting week.

Huh? I haven't had ANY 'sudden death' failures on 1200 tubes. I'll bet the blue circuits driving the blue tube has an issue somewhere. How did the tube get damaged? Fix the problem before spending more money on tubes...

7621195 and 762292 are same amps, just different pinout for crt connector. With Panasonic tubes you also need to remove red focus leads.

And I have blue and red 1200 tubes with perfect phosphor.
