I loved the original Black Christmas. Is this one any good/ does it do the first one any justice?

Its ok. A little b cheese, but I think that was the intention.

Touches on incest / and other disturbing issues. Definitely not a bad flick, but I cant recommend as a blind buy.

4.3 Imdb ...
17% Rotten Tomatoes ...

It's a decent flick, for most a rental at best. It's a definite buy for me though.

For people that saw it in the theaters, how do you think the PQ will translate to HD-DVD? The only thing I got from the previews was that it looks very dark.
Might be worthy of a blind buy? Is there lots of violence and gore kinda stuff?
Lot's of violence and some gore, not for the squeamish. The film probably won't be a showcase due to the dark nature of the film and it being Genius it will probably use mpeg4. I see it being a tier 2 at least. Still better to have it in HD than not.

It's an awful, awful movie. Horrible characters, unscary, and completely unsure of itself in terms of tone. The reshoots are obvious as hell. I won't even get into how much of a disappointment it is considering the fact the original film is incredibly good. As of now, Black Christmas '06 is just a very sub-standard slasher flick.

Shouldn't this come out at Christmas?

I will rent first.

I loved this movie, I personally think the original was very dumb and confusing. This one while still confusing, it's more mysterious and actually shows Billy.

The movie gave me chills, and will be a definate pick up for me, I will pay no more than $40 though.

Since not a single HD has ever been $40 (except boxsets) that won't be an issue.

What's up with Amazon not listing this title for preorder yet?
I believe Weinstein is definitely in the habit of using TrueHD...
I put off renting this at the local blockbuster in order to rent it in HD at blockbuster online
post #20 of 27
I think we will Netflix this one first...

I saw it on standard dvd, and I think that the dark mood in contrast with the christmas lights and decorations would look good in HD. As for the movie itself, I think most fans of horror could appreciate it, there is a seemingly purposeful influence of b-movie cinematography to it.

I have the HD DVD, and it looks stunning. One of the better HD DVD transfers, and a high tier 2 according to the revamped tier system.

I cant wait.

I really dug the film in theaters so I pre-ordered it with Amazon.com. Cannot wait for Tuesday.
