Denon 887 more $ than 2307ci?

Doing a next tag (and many others) search of the 2 and the 887 is more than the 2307ci. Very strange since the 2307 has more options.

I bought an 887 from CC and have been looking online at some better offers and found the 2307ci a better purchase. On the other hand, the pricing for the 2307 is from non-auth compainies (other than a refurb at Dak).

I have till March 15th to return the 887 and leaning towards it. With tax it's around the $675 range, I've found the 2307 for $570 shipped.

I've been playing with this receiver for a few days now and really like it, I love that you can name your inputs. Also, lovin' that my harmony 1000 takes care of the remote, cause this (887 and I'm sure the 2307 is the same) remote is the worst I've ever used.

I'm in the same "boat" I bought a 887 at CC but after seeing better pricing online for more power and features wouldn't be "stupid" for me to switch it out?

as a side note the 887 seems a tad "wimpy" in the old fashioned heavy factor? I also am trying out a Sony ES 3200 which is a beast in that department. And it sounds pretty "flat" not a bad way but not as warm as my old Onkyo or Yamaha....

2307 is marginally better imho, remote is same sucky one

Thanks for the replies.

The only part that scares me is that; most places online (that's cheaper) are probably not auth-dealers. So if something goes wrong, I have to pay out of my own pocket.


Think I might hit up CC and BB this weekend to check into other models. I like Denon (had the 3802 for years), but would like to hear the Yamaha, Onkyo and Pioneer (hate Sony's). However, I do want a cheap receiver till the HDMI standards are solved, so the Onkyo sounds good on paper.

I think the reason that the 2307 is now geting cheaper is because it has been discontinued and the 887 is the new model . I was able to get my 887 (brand new open box) at CC for well under $500 so you might want to look around . From my experience the Denons tend to sound better than the other brands mentioned and they do not seem to have any of the bugs that some of the other comparable models have either (like the LFE bug) .

I say take the Harmony 1000 back.

Look online and find a URC MX-3000. It'll cost a hundred or two more, but it is a million times more powerful, AND it has better graphics.

I'll take a trip to a few local CC's and see if I can find an open box. Thanks for the tip!!!
Also, had no idea that the 2307 is discontinued, make sense now.



P.S. I actually like the 1000, it's a tad slow, but works great.
