Thanks for the great summary of this issue. I have been reading your website and appreciate the time you have put into the articles there.
My screen is uniformly blue during a Black 0 IRE field input from a test disk. at 10 IRE it is grey. I have not taken the time to step through the bottom 0-10 IRE to find out where the blue turns grey.
I think we are in agreement that a grey balance can be reached at some point. Depending on the sererity of the blue filter damage, determines at what level the colors come into balance. My thought is that since this may be a high illumination level, shutting down the IRIS will make the picture more natural even though the overall picture brightness is reduced.
I was looking for a technical discussion to see if anyone has found any other "band-aid" fixes while the OB continues degrading.

My 60A2020 purchased 3 July 2007 is on its third bulb & last leg. The old girl has developed a reddish-orangish-brownish tint. The whilte levels are way off, the blacks are tuning gray & Standard mode gives me the best picture now. She had a good run, but now I think I have to let her go. If the 929's were made in sizes larger than 65 inches I would probable go that route. As it is, that 3D 70 inch Sharp (735 series, I think) is looking good. C'est la vie!
