HDMI/DVI/Sharp PG-M20X (DVI 1.0)

4 year old Sharp PG M20X
(with DVI input; manual says it's DVI 1.0, not working with DVI 2.0)
Panasonic Upconvert DVD player with HDMI output
HDMI-HDMI cable
HDMI-female-to-DVI adapter
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After I connected DVD player output to HDMI, and used HDMI-DVI adapter to connect to the projector, the project flickered quite a few times trying very hard to "adjust the picture quality". It never stablized and I couldn't get anything.

The SHARP manual said the projector supports only DVI 1.0... I wonder if this is the reason why? Anybody provides any input?

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!

After some research, I believe it's because SHARP PG-M20X is not HDCP compatible, and thus no signal is passed from the HDMI/DVI cable. What options do I have then? These are the two that I can think of that are low budget.

1. Buy a HDCP-free DVD player with up-convert/HDMI?
2. Hack my Panasonic S52S player to make it HDCP-free?

Any suggestions?
