The A1/XA1 have a one year parts AND labor warranty so you just call Toshiba and they give you the closest place to send it for repair.

manufacturer warranties are almost always better than anything best buy can do for you(they use lowest bidder mom and pop repair shops).

manufacturer warranty would not work for me because i did not register the player when i got it

When they give you a new player, that voids your extended warranty with BB, right? I believe I have read somewhere that you will have to buy another extended warranty if you want the additional coverage on the new player as well.

i had an a1 they gave me an a1 (which is now acting up) and they didnt void anything

but im afraid it might be different if going from an a1 to an a2. i think its more of what the player costed you. the new a2 is $499 i paid $449 for my a1 so im guessing in my case i might have to pay teh difference.

it doesn't "void" it, it consumes it when the product is replaced.
By replacing the product the warranty is fulfilled.
If it is a repair item, then your warranty continues, if it is fixed 4 times they replace the product with a new unit and deem the defective unit a lemon, at which point your warranty is consumed.

^ note that this only applies after the manufacturers warranty is past, inside the manufacturers warranty your "PSP" continues.

must be different in different states

for cali its 3 times and its a lemon

also the warranty is fully transferable

also they told me if i had any other problems the same warranty from my old one covers my new one just that the original date of purchase of the first one is when the warranty started for the second one

also their is NOTHING on the warranty paper describing anything about consuming the warranty with an exchange.

like i said if you got the player for say $350 then your screwed cause their not gonna drop the a2 to that price.

the third time is a repair, if it breaks again after that...they replace. It's the same everywhere.

The warranty is transferable to a new unit, so long as it is still under manufacturers warranty, being that no A1 was bought in feb/march your unit would still be under mfg'r warranty. Should the unit break after the MFG'r warranty you would be given a new unit and the warranty consumed.
