Asking for the ban of terms "Ray-tard" and Blu rape"

I don't think the terms "Ray tard" or "Blu rape" are acceptable. For those of us with family members that are mentally challenged, the terms are no different than other slang demeaning terms like the "N" word.

The use of the word rape to denote humor is simply immaturity at it's height. There is nothing funny about the topic.

I expect more from the membership at AVS. If member's don't live up to an mature standard, then I think it's up to the mods and owners to step up and determine that standard. I think now is the time. I appreciate when reporting a post about these phrases, the mods quickly delete them, but it's widespread enough that I think AVS needs to add this to their overall rules. I would also like to see members who continue to use the terms to be suspended or banned.

Thanks for the response Mark. I feel like I was nagging for each instance and I know there is enough on your plate....but the terms are so offensive that I couldn't let it slide. I appreciate your understanding. Maybe a sticky in the HD-resolution forums asking that the terms not be used would stop much of it. At least it would give something for members to "point to" to show that AVS doesn't allow the use of "retarded and rape" as acceptable. Let's face it, if society used those terms in a positve way...they wouldn't be using them in the current context...so they use them because they inflame and offend other's sensibilities.
