Grex vs Video Filter vs CT-200

I've been searching and reading threads that discuss in varying degrees of detail (or the lack thereof) these devices. I'm interested in them for doing two primary tasks: 1) back-up a VHS tape library to DVDs; 2) transfer movies recorded on Motorola DCT6412 III DVR to DVD. Here's the question: Which of these devices is best suited for these purposes?

I'd particularly appreciate answers from people who actually own (or have owned) one or more of the devices.

Also, while I have found the CT-200 at the local BB and located the website for the Grex, I can't seem to find a retailer/website for the Video Filter which I gather was designed by an AVS Senior Member (Logic Design).

3/2/07: Now have info for the video filter but would still appreciate answer(s) to the above question.

Have you had problems with archiving from your Motorola DVR to a DVDR due to CP issues?

The web site for descriptions and ordering Logic Design's Video Filter is here. I hope I am not violating any rules by posting this. I have no financial interest in this product, and I don't even own one.

I own and can recommend the CT-200. Good, somewhat versatile unit. It will also allow you to make analog copies of DVDs.

I have both units. If you don't need S-Video, the cheaper unit is the way to go. Simple and reasonable. I have used it a number of times with good results. Note: If you go for this one, order from the web site referenced above. Qualitek Industries sells it also, but a previous poster had a horror story concerning them.

Surprisingly (at least to me) not yet, but the I've only done some very limited tests. I've just installed a Samsung DVD-VR330 in my system so I'm gathering info in anticipation of future problems. BTW, the VR330 seems to be working out - a finalized DVD-R plays nicely on my Sony upconverting DVD player, HP desktop and HP notebook.

I'm going from a Moto DCT6412 III to a Samsung DVD-VR330 with S-video so the CT-200 or the Stabilizer Model 200 would be the ones I'd consider.

Thanks to all. Now if there's a Grex user lurking out there, let's hear from you, too.

I have a Grex and am very pleased with it. Quite versatile, as it will work for composite, S-Vid and Component signal feeds.

Thanks for the info. Did you order it on-line and, if so, how long did it take for it to be delivered? The reason I'm asking is that it appears that the company is in Israel.

I also have a Grex and have had no problems with it. It has performed admirably going from both DVD>DVD and VHS>DVD. I ordered on line and yes, the unit was shipped from Israel. I received mine in about 8 days, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info. In this age of everyone (including me) wanting instant gratification, 8 days sounds like an eternity.
