JVC DLA-RS1 Owner's Thread - Page 291

My RS-1 died on me last night. I have never had any problems since original purchase other than replacing the bulb twice as part of routine service. I am wondering if there are any easy answers or if I have to ship it out for repair. I turned it on as always and within 10 seconds it shut down. I double checked the power connections, remote batteries, and filter. The filter was dirty so I cleaned it out. I also pulled the bulb and examined it before reinserting it. Afterwards, I still had no power. I notice that there is no power indicated on any of the top indicator lights and the manual on/off switch on the top does not respond either. There is good power at the power strip connection but nothing in the machine. The manual offers no insight. Any advice on troubleshooting or repair? The machine is in Sonoma County, California.
Thanks in advance, guys!

Is there a fuse or circuit breaker on these? If it's that dead, maybe it's power interruptus.

And "hi" to a neighbor. Not often you see our little home town on a world-wide forum!

Hello all,
I hope you can help me out. Yesterday, I turned on my DLA-HD100 and (out of the blue) I got the warning light with a blinking lamp light. The projector didn't ever Turned on, no light nor fan.

The manual says that those warning lights can mean the following....
- Lamp does not light up and is unable to project.
- Lamp is turned off during projection.
- Lamp cover is removed.

I got this used projector about 6 months ago, it was working fine. The lamp (OEM) had about 1,000 hours, and I never got any "replace" messages. The filter is clean, lamp cover is in place, the bulb looks ok, not burn or exploded....

Do you think it may just need a new lamp, or some repair?

Thanks in advance.

Reads like a bulb replacement is in order. Not all of mine in an RS-1 have lastest the full 2000 hours. Even received the warning lights like you and a new bulb restored operation.

Hope I'm not hijacking the thread.

I ordered an Osram lamp with housing; works fine other than the new lamp. However, I was surprised that it was manufactured in China.

Is that the new paradigm shift but at 1/2 the price? My original Osram was from Belgium.

FYI,

My RS1 looks better than it ever has. I've run through many lamps over the past 6 years, some claiming to be "OEM" and at least one that was "Genuine JVC". This new lamp was from Apex Lamps, cost $124 fully assembled with housing, and still looks great after 250hrs. I was shocked how bright it was. Brighter than I remember when the RS1 was new. It literally made my 122" screen look like an LCD flat panel in normal room lighting, although it couldn't stand up to sunlight of course.

I just replaced my bulb for $89 and my RS-1 hasn't looked this good for quite some time. The original bulb had 900 hours on it and has been running in high mode for the last couple of years - I got tried of hearing the fan so I replaced the bulb and back to normal speed the fan speed and can barely hear it now. It seems the bulb takes longer to warm up but it has excellent color once it gets going, I've owned this PJ for 6 years now but only have 900 hours on it - I guess I travel too much frown.gif

Wow ! 900 hours in 6 years ? I wanted to be sure to get my money's worth out of this projector before a new model compelled me to upgrade, so I use it as my main display for all my TV and movie watching. In those same 6 years, I've put 15,000 hours on my RS1 and am on my 8th lamp ! I guess being retired for the last five years has made the difference.

All of the generic <$100 lamps I've used were an improvement over the lamp it replaced but only because by 2000+ hours, any lamp is going to be an improvement. This Apex lamp with an Osram bulb was more than just an "improvement" over the dying lamp, it was brighter than my RS1 had ever been.

Now worth $600 if you are lucky!
