Replays not updating and losing guide data...

I noticed an issue late last year where one of my three 5040s would occasionaly not update its channel guide. It would run out and have an empty guide. I would force a connect and as soon as I did, it would reboot itself. Then, I forced a connect and it would get the guide data.

A few months later another unit started the same behavior. And now I'm noticing this on all three of my units. I was doing the DST fix tonight and noticed my main unit hadn't updated to 3/11 to check the patch. I hit 411-zones to check the last connect, sure enough it locks up and I have to hold the power button. After reboot, I check 411Z again and notice it hadn't connected since 2/25. Force connect updates the guide and things get back to normal.

This doesn't affect all of them at the same time.. thats the strange part, its obviously some bug that crops up at random on the systems.. but just more likely recently? Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

When Replays miss their 7-day maintenance reboot, net connects will not work until the next reboot. If you net connect manually you will see the unit immediately reboot.

I don't think anybody ever isolated why the Replay would miss the maintenance reboot, but we know the symptoms.

If you use your Replays, the chance that this happens is minimized. For example, I have 3 Replays in 1 location and a few more around the house. There is a tendency just to use the same replay in the location with the 3. One or both of the other 2 may stray past the reboot time and get flaky. They still stream fine so you do not know it. If you use a Replay that has gone past the reboot period, accessing a remote guide or cycling through menus quickly pops it into a reboot and you never really have the no-connect issue. Every couple of days, I use a different unit in the group of three and haven't seen this issue in years.
