~Official Olevia 747i/742i owners thread - Page 168

Hi there! This thread is great!! The firnware in my Olevia 747i is 747-B11_v63.7A17. Is it the same as 747_V63.7.5? if not where can I find it? or please can someone send it to me to fam56@yahoo.com.

Thx in advance,

Wish this Olevia had a section instead of just one post with a zillion different posts, but oh well, hope someone with knowledge finds this.
I bought a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones so I can watch tv while my life sleeps. Work great BUT, I cannot leave them plugged in and switch audio source (at least I can't find a way).
Is it possible to turn headphone input on/off without plugging/unplugging the jack? It's a BIG pain moving the set to get to the plug, only to have to move it again to unplug. And I love this unit (747i), but it seems impossible that they would design it with only a plug for headphones in the back that you have to push in, pull out, ery time you want to use headphones.
Thanks for any help, and I'll keep looking for a solution.

Regards

Wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the tuner. I bought an HD antenna because I was sick of paying Dish an exorbitant amount of money every month and I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu Plus. So I picked up "The Leaf Indoor HDTV antenna" and plugged it into the tuner 2 input since it states in the manual that this is the input you should use if you are going directly from an antenna to the TV. I did the auto channel scan and was delighted to see that it had found 2 analog and 42 digital channels. However, when I try using either the remote or the actual channel up down buttons on the TV it is a no go. It just sits on what I assume is an analog station with what seems to play 24 hours straight of Judge something or other. Please Help!!! Also I did try using tuner 1 but it just sits on the screen searching for channels and never even begins searching. I have grief restoring to factory default as well to no avail.

^^^ I'm afraid, as with the input selection, the 747i only allows you to cycle around the channels by going up and down the dial. Sucks, but the only solution people have found (one you'd have to spend more $$$ to achieve) is to get a universal remote and program some old Olevia codes that the 747i recognizes. This way on the new remote you will be able to input a specific channel number and the 747i will take you to it. Sorry.

I have the original remote but when I type in the channel number it gives me a message that the channel number is invalid or something to the sort. I have a harmony 1 remote as well but have not tried to tap in the channel numbers with that. What is the point of having a "favorites" button if it doesn't switch between the channels you marked as favorites in the OSD menu?

Hello gang,Glad to see this thread is still goin' strong & my original 747i is still goin' strong as well. biggrin.gif lol. It's been quite a while...around 5 years!??
Anyway, it would be very much appreciated if someone could email me the last three of the firmware updates if possible. Or atleast the last that was released before Syntax-Brillian went bellyup..... '747_V63.7.5' is the latest I believe? My current fw is '747-B11_V63.6A17'.
Also, would anyone know what the onscreen menu colors are per fw version? Last I flashed the colors changed from green or red outline with blue text to blue outline w/ horrid yellow text which is hard to read most of the time mainly when using the tuner. So, I'm hoping a newer fw will give me diff. colors as well.

Thanks gang!

Anybody? lol

I see your post, but sadly I would be of no help.
The one time I tried a firmware upgrade, it simply would not perform the upgrade.
Olevia was willing to try and diagnose the problem if I paid postage to send the unit to them.
I decided I'd live with whatever bugs were in the current rev instead.

I am very sorry I can't be of more help. This thread was of GREAT help to me
as I decided on which LCD I would buy as my first flat screen TV. After I purchased the
747i, the thread was then helpful to me in providing lore and important clues about
making best use of the unit.

Thank you VERY much for starting it.

Yo, S!TH, long time no see. Glad this little 747i has kept going the distance and served us well over the past six (soon to be seven!) years. eek.gif

Going back through the thread there are two regulars that were kind-enough to e-mail the latest updates to the 747i to those that asked for them. Maybe you can ask them (or the other 747i guys that received them) to send you their software updates via e-mail or PM: http://www.avsforum.com/t/814773/official-olevia-747i-742i-owners-thread/4950#post_21265259 (try rarjar) and http://www.avsforum.com/t/814773/official-olevia-747i-742i-owners-thread/4950#post_21406361 (try hdtv4xmas). Good luck sir. smile.gif

I'm not sure a firmware update would make the set less heavy....tongue.gif

I went to manually change the volume on my 747i and set off a noticeable static discharge and the set turned off. Now it won't turn back on!

I have unplugged it for a while and replugged it, but it appears dead.

Does anyone have any ideas for a quick fix or am I looking having to throw in the towel on my trusty 747i?

Thanks for any ideas.

That was it.
Good luck!!

Got it though it was quite tricky finding the right sequence to get it to initiate. Menus still blue outlined with yellow text, oh well. :/

Sorry it didn't help bro. Unfortunately, these tv's are starting to show their grey hairs, lol! Mine is still working fine, but it got retired to the game room where it gets turned on maybe a few times a month.

Yeah ya got that right though my 747i is still going strong though over past year have had an annoying ghosting/burn-in problem which fades off & on though used to it now.

Oh btw, would anybody happen to have any firmware for the Olevia 537H (537-B11) ? I just gave my brother my old 537H & The tuner whacks out most of the time with the channel buttons not working... muting the sound when pressed and scanner not working then magicly working again now & then. Though I suspect this is a 'EPROM' issue but I'm hoping by chance a fw upgrade will fix it. There is a way to clear the EPROM which may resolve this but havnt found out how yet.Perhaps somebody here knows how to 'clear' the eprom? I've read somewhere to unplug the 537H while on for 5-10min would clear the eprom but that method hasnt worked. The current fw on the 537-B11 is: 537-B11-070523. S/N:VDLD66060212.
Thank you everybody and again, ty Richard for the 747i fw ya emailed me. smile.gif
