A couple Panny PT-47WX42 questions

Good afternoon,
First things first here, thank you all for your participation in this forum. I've been lurking on and off for a couple of years waiting for my wife to say go on a new tv purchase and I've learned so much.

Questions:
About 4 years ago we bought our first HD tv. A Panasonic PT-47WX42 CRT Rear Projection TV. It's been a good tv up till now. After we had the tv for about a year my 3 year old son painted on the screen with red fingernail polish. We tried to get it of to no avail. Checked on getting it replaced and was quote almost $500, so we decided just to live with it. Kind of fun, we got used to it and started looking right thru it and almost forgot it was there. So, that's the first problem, albeit self inflicted, with the tv.

Fast forward until yesterday morning. I come out and turn the tv on for the kids to watch cartoon, and the display is crazy looking. I thought the cartoon was a 3d cartoon, but after changing channels, then inputs realized its definitely the tv. The display looks as if the Blue move to the left by about 4 or 5 inches on the right side of the screen, Left side only about and inch though. Everything on the right side of the screen has a blue shadow to the left of it thats about 4 to 5 inches long. I also noticed that on really light screens, Snowy Mountain type scenes, there's a yellow arc from the Top right to the Bottom right of the screen, with the middle of the arc being about 6 inchs wide.

So my question is, with these new display issues, do you think the TV is fixable? Do you think, with the replacement of the lenticular screen to take care of the fingernail polish, and the cost to get this fixed, is it worth it, or should we just buy a new TV?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

PS. This has been a great TV up to this point. I love the picture on it with my HD sources and Xbox360.

Oh, and one more question. What should the typcial life span of a CRT Rear Projection screen be?

Convergence failure $300-$400 parts & labor. Fingernail polish - Does the outer screen have vertical grooves or is is smooth? If it's smooth try razor blade, goof-off, goo-gone, nail polish remover. But tape off all sections of the screen surrounding the area, especially below where it could drip down.

Yes, the outer screen has vertical groves in it. Parts for it were about $125 to replace, with labor at about $300. I've heard the screen were pretty fairly straight forward to replace, but don't know if I'm up to the task.

Do any of you know any good repair shops in North Dallas, Plano or Denton Texas?

Thanks for your reply!
