HT door questions (pocketdoor?)

Unless you are getting rid of all door knobs in the house, I'd chalk that risk up to one of the many things that are potential valuable learning experiences. Much like the first time you have some of your kids' friends over to watch a movie and one of them has an emergency, goes to quickly exit the dark theater to go to the bathroom and instead of pushing the door open, he slams his forehead into your pocket door.

Run a search. Rattles (due to subwoofer) is the biggest worry with pocket doors.

Are you going to let your small kids be in the theater without you or your wife?

For sound, pocket doors are somewhat better than a screen door or peace beads, but not by much. They also rattle when you apply a bit of bass.

Pocket doors have been discussed here as a weak link in a sound proofing strategy. If that's not important then you should be fine. Some members that have pocket doors didn't have or were able to tame any rattle issues.

Also a FYI you can buy just about any plane slab door (including Masonite safe and sound) and hang it from a DIY pocket door kit. Johnson makes one.
