What is a really good native 720p projector in the $1000 range?

The Pan AE700/900 class is very very close to that target -with brand new AE900's still available if you dig deep enough on the internet - outselling every other HD consumer projector in the world for several years by quite a large margin - ii simplest terms due to extreme ease and flexibility of setup, ultra-close/small room viewing distances where necessary, and high impact LCD HD picture w/o any DLP single chip color wheel presenting an issue

This is going to take some effort on your part.

About two+ years ago Optoma's flagship H79 became the 720p 'best bet'. At six grand not too many takers. Optoma responded with the H78DC3 and suddenly 720p projection and masses began to unite. Not to mention lots of other OEMs got on board. The magic price point focused on $3k for DLP and $2K for LCD. Lot's of happy AVSers answered the call.
Fast forward to 2006, and both PC and PR (and others) like the HD7100 as an even better 'best bet'.
Fast forward again to 2007, and now Art prefers the Sharp Z3000 over the 7100.
(Same price point)
Smart AVSers quickly learned the Dt-500 was a z3000 without the 'second' iris.
And, clever AVSers married it with the bay, and enjoy best of class 720p for under a grand.

Are you a clever AVSer?
