DTR 7.6 & PS3 Problems!

I realized today that the Ps3 and my Integra DTR 7.6 receiver I bought a week ago is not working well with the HDMI uplink. I had been posting earlier today about problems I noticed while watching movies with random blocky patterns and other little things, so I took the hdmi out of the receiver (coming from the ps3) and directly connected it to my Pioneer profhd1, and now all the problems are gone. No more issues with certain games pixelating. So I am having the person who sold me this get me a new one so I can try and see if its the receiver, if so I'm going to not use it and use the direct hdmi connection or return the receiver for a better one that works correctly. I'm pretty torn up about this right now, can't believe that a receiver that claims to work with 1080p would malfunction with a gaming system.

Just glad you were able to pinpoint the problem and that it's not too late to do an exchange.

I bought it through a installer thats local so I'm going to have to speak with him. I think I may just get a different reciever, if anyone has any experience with a great reciever that doesnt conflict with the ps3 I'm all ears. I'm pretty upset about the DTR 7.6 not working with it, but its going to throw the whole system off (universal remote will have to be fully reprogrammed etc) if the ps3 has to be put through an independant hdmi port. Now everything can't be uplinked through the reciever, I'm using an optical for sound and the hdmi just for picture. Pretty upsetting...

Look into getting a Yamaha RXV2700. I went on a receiver hunt about a month ago and looked at two Denons and two Pioneers, which I eliminated for a number of different reasons before settling on the Yamaha. No regrets, either, which is rare for me when it comes to CE equipment.

Whichever receiver you go for, you want to make sure it properly handles PCM/LFE over HDMI. You'd only be shortchanging yourself if you didn't. This thread was extremely helpful in my search: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=748147

The DTR-7.7 has been out for several months...and it's less expensive than the DTR-7.6, which was discontinued last fall and Integra has the last remaining quantities available.

Why not ask for a 7.7, which supports 1080p over HDMI?

Ok, my mistake I took a look at it and it is a DTR 7.7, however, if it does support 1080p why these minor issues, I am pretty frustrated I appreciate the suggestion on the yamaha, is that the best to go with, I am going to suggest these to him and say I'm not going to keep the DTR 7.7 unless all can be uplinked through it with no issues (which seems not to be able to happen at this point.)

bferr, Do you think that will eliminate the issues with the ps3, I'm pretty frustrated seeing that this reciever was supposed to be one of the best, if anybody knows of any real high end ones let me know also. I am still waiting on two Triad Gold Minimonitor In Room speakers i had ordered last month, they are putting a finish on them so they look nice lol, Thanks

scarfacefox, read more about the Yamaha here: http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/r...eceiver-review

So far, no complaints whatsoever, and definitely no regrets, either.

I'm going to take a look at that, I'm hoping this isnt going to be a problem finding a reciever that will work well with the ps3. I was wondering, is HDMI audio better than optical audio? I mean, can it be used with more speakers etc? Thanks for the help!

HDMI audio will pass up to 7.1 PCM to your receiver, whereas optical/coax limits PCM to 2 channel.

Well, now I'm going to be asking him to take that reciever back and get me one that will work correctly, I hope I will be able to find one that will work well with the PS3. Ted
