got a question about the sa 8300 dvr or any digital set top having a problem with the picture freezing every 20 to 30 sec for a period of 10 to 15 sec.
ruled out all cabling senerios only the only thing that i have not tested is the polarity of the electrical outlet, could this cause the digital processor inside the set top to fail ?

It could be a hard drive failure. The first step should be to have your cable provider swap out the box.

If you've had other devices fail on that electrical outlet, then it would be a good idea to check that out. Some devices are more sensitive than others. A number of years back, I had a power outlet kill both a TV and an A/V receiver before I got it fixed.
